SKU: A0.744736

Composed by Phil Lehenbauer. Arranged by Phil Lehenbauer. Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 18 pages. Phil Lehenbauer #6350311. Published by Phil Lehenbauer (A0.744736).

The second suite written with the younger, less-experienced trombonist in mind, the 2021 Suite for Trombone and Organ includes:  1.  Foundation Fanfare, based on the hymn tune Aurelia (The Church's One Foundation), 2. Psalm on Picardy (Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence), and 3.  Modern March (an original composition).  All three are geared for the younger player, with limited range, repetitive rhythmic patterns, and a variety of keys for the younger player to master.  There are recordings and videos of all three movements on this site as well as on YouTube at OrganGuyPhil.  The suite includes both organ and trombone parts, but also a Treble Clef part useable for Baritone TC, Trumpet, or Tenor Sax.  The movements can be used separately or together, during worship or as special music.

SKU: A0.744714

Composed by Phil Lehenbauer. Arranged by Phil Lehenbauer. Classical,Contemporary,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 11 pages. Phil Lehenbauer #6066459. Published by Phil Lehenbauer (A0.744714).

Perfect for Reformation, this dark and brooding organ work is based on the hymn Built on the Rock, the Church Doth Stand, based on the hymn tune Kirken Den Er Et Gammelt Hus, which is also called Lindeman.  Beginning with a darker modal treatment, the piece ends with a toccata style section in triumphant fashion, and the melody is clearly stated throughout.  The work was composed for a two manual instrument and will give you the chance to feature the full, dark sounds of your instrument.  I've included both the 4 page version (to fit on a standard organ stand) and the 5 page version (for a clearer score) for your convenience. Check out all my pieces on YouTube: OrganGuyPhil.

SKU: A0.877903

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Steven Griffin. Christmas. Score. 8 pages. Steven Griffin #6201195. Published by Steven Griffin (A0.877903).

A fun-filled festive frolic through the 12 days of Christmas utilising the 12 major diatonic keys.  Will the organist be able to keep count of how many days there are?

Written for not hugely competent organist (the composer himself...).  Registrations at the discretion of the performer - you know your instrument so utilise it as best you can. The dynamics are more of a general 'guide' so feel free to ad gradations of dynamic here and there to suit your playing style/ability.

Most importantly, it is meant to be a bit of fun and no taken too seriously so enjoy it!  Suitable for a Christmas Concert or maybe a service for youngsters.  Not for Midnight Mass...

Previous volumes of these hymn harmonizations have met with wide acceptance, and we are pleased to now offer-in tribute to a great American composer, organist and editor for the earlier volumes, Dale Wood-an additional 23 new settings in Volume 4. The accompaniments avoid extreme departures from the traditional harmonizations, and instead provide pleasing alterations which enhance the vitality of congregational song. Each setting is playable on one or two manuals, allowing the organist to play the melody on a solo register when desired. A master index of all volumes is included.

Composed by Heinrich Nicolaus Gerber. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Baroque. Score. 5 pages. Guido Menestrina #115413. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828693).

Heinrich Nicolaus [Nikolaus, Nicholas] Gerber was a German organist and composer. He matriculated as a law student at the University of Leipzig on May 8, 1724, and towards the end of the same year became a pupil of J.S. Bach. In 1731 he was appointed court organist to the Prince of Schwarzburg at Sondershausen, a post in which, upon his death, he was succeeded by his son, the music lexicographer Ernst Ludwig Gerber (1746-1819). E.L. Gerber's dictionary of musicians (Leipzig, 1790-1792; revised edition, 1812-1814) contains a vivid account of his father's tuition under J.S. Bach. Numerous keyboard works by J.S. Bach survive in copies made by Heinrich Nicolaus Gerber during his Leipzig years (1724-1727), including the Inventions and Sinfonias (BWV 772-801), the French Suites (BWV 812-817), English Suites Nos. 1, 3, 5, and 6 (BWV 816, 818, 810, 811), the first two Preludes and Fugues from The Well-tempered Clavier Part 1 (BWV 846-847), and some miscellaneous works (BWV 818, BWV 819, BWV 914, and BWV 996).

SKU: A0.1000662

Composed by Nicholas Yandell. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 14 pages. Nicholas Yandell Music #6039147. Published by Nicholas Yandell Music (A0.1000662).

Based on a theme from Yandell's orchestral work:  Overture of the Rockies, this piece uses the image of waking up to new day as a symbol of rebirth. With the both apprehensive and majestic feelings of being given a new purpose, a new understanding, and a new life, one is left awestruck with wonder.

This is a short work, idiomatically composed for the horn, and blending well with the vibrant organ accompaniment. A beautiful, emotionally-moving composition, with a sacred feeling, it is also very accessible to audiences. This piece works well as a duet for advanced high school or college students, but is also appealing to professional musicians. Programmatically, this work functions well as a short work on a classical concert as well as a prelude or special music moment in a church setting.

This piece was first performed on January 21, 2017, by Kurt Heichelheim (horn) and Cheryl Young (organ), at the Desire for the Sacred concert presented by Cascadia Composers, a chapter of the National Association of Composers, USA. at Agnes Flanagan Chapel, Lewis & Clark College, Portland, OR.

Duration of Work: 4 minutes

SKU: A0.744716

Composed by Phil Lehenbauer. Classical,Contemporary,Renaissance,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 19 pages. Phil Lehenbauer #6080713. Published by Phil Lehenbauer (A0.744716).

This is the complete suite for trombone and organ, with movements- 1. Fanfare, 2. Aria on Amazing Grace, and 3. Renaissance Gladness.  This is written for the younger, less-experienced player, as all three movements feature limited range, repeated rhythmic motives, and easy key signatures.  For example, movement 2. Aria only uses the first three positions!  Now you have an accessible work to feature that young musician, whether for church services, special events, or recitals.  Complete videos of all three movements are on the YouTube channel of OrganGuyPhil (the composer).  Each movement is also available separately here on SMP.
