Domine Fili - Aria for Bass from Mass in G Major - Vocal Score
Carlos Seixas (1704-1742) was a Portuguese composer and organist who had close contact with the avant-garde European music of his time. Despite never leaving Portugal, Seixas collaborated with Domenico Scarlatti, who was the chapel master of the Portuguese court. Seixas is considered the most important Portuguese baroque composer of keyboard music. Although none of his original works survived, he is credited with composing approximately 700 toccatas. Of these, only ninety-five survived in authenticated sources, along with other instrumental pieces and ten complete vocal works, including the Mass in G major. This mass is written for four soloists (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass), choir, and strings. It is divided into five parts: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei. In addition to the choral sections, this piece also includes four arias, one for each soloist, two duets for soprano and alto, and a trio for soprano, alto, and tenor.

Composed by Vidas Pinkevicius. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Vidas Pinkevicius #3550417. Published by Vidas Pinkevicius (A0.909301).

Today I wanted to share my newest composition - Qui sedes, Domine which is based on the Gregorian chant Gradual for the 3rd Sunday in Advent. It is dedicated to organist Angela Kraft Cross. She visited Vilnius and played the organ at Vinius University St John's church last year.

Although this Gradual is written in the 7th mode, to make it more colorful, I often changed and transposed the mode throughout the piece.

It's a free paraphrase of Gregorian chant. The pedal maintains a dialogue with the hand part.

PDF score. 5 pages. Duration - 4.5 minutes. Intermediate level.

Composed by William Byrd. Arranged by James Haynor. Praise & Worship,Renaissance,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 32 pages. James Haynor #3882793. Published by James Haynor (A0.782235).

William Byrd (birth date variously given as c.1539/40 or 1543 – 4 July 1623), was an English composer of the Renaissance. He wrote in many of the forms current in England at the time, including various types of sacred and secular polyphony, keyboard (the so-called Virginalist school), and consort music. Although he produced sacred music for Anglican services, sometime during the 1570s he became a Roman Catholic and wrote Catholic sacred music later in his life.

Libera me, Domine written for five voices is a great example of his work and transcribes well for brass quintet.

SKU: A0.1251338

Composed by Orlande De Lassus. Arranged by Russell McKinney. Renaissance. 10 pages. Gordon Cherry #845614. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1251338).

Domine, ne in Furore by Orlando di Lasso has been arranged for brass quintet by Russell McKinney. The music is taken from the seven Penitential Psalms that Lasso presented for exclusive use in Albrecht’s court shortly after he was appointed Maestro in 1563. The seven Penitential Psalms (6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, & 143 in Anglican numbering) have been in specific liturgical use from early in Western Christianity and therefore were a significant offer to his patron. He added another dimension to his versions by setting each psalm in a different church mode. The numbers in his collection indicates the mode of the setting, rather than the number of the psalm. This arrangement is of the first two sections of Penitential Psalm No. 3 which is Psalm 38 set in the Phrygian Mode.

This arrangement is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and does not present any serious challenges for technique, range or endurance.

Men's choir - intermediate - Digital Download

SKU: S9.Q7313

Motets for four-part men's choir. Composed by Peter Cornelius. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Downloadable, Choral score. Schott Music - Digital #Q7313. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7313).

Latin.

When Peter Cornelius (1824–1874), the musically and literarily talented and versatile artist, went to Weimar in 1852 to pursue further studies with Franz Liszt, the latter advised him to 'throw himself into writing sacred music with a will'. He heeded his advice and thereupon wrote a series of liturgical and religious pieces for men's choir as well as the song cycle 'Vater unser'. 'Domine salvum fac regem' too was composed by Cornelius in this context – in two versions: for a cappella men's choir and for solo tenor, mixed choir and orchestra. The version for men's choir was written in May 1852, setting to music in a 'speaking' and expressive manner the texts compiled from psalm and doxology, with colourful motet-like and block-like sections and a 'Gloria Deo', set as if chiselled, which introduces the final section – an impressive work.
