The work relies on Romantic idioms with the style imitating Rachmaninoff’s chromaticism, with hints of Debussy and Tchaikovsky. It quotes the famous Dies irae, translated “Day of Wrath,� theme often used by the composers Rachmaninoff, Liszt, and Berlioz. You will also hear the beginning of the nursery rhyme Frère Jacques theme as well, similarly quoted in Mahler’s First Symphony, which creates an unusual juxtaposition. The realization of the aria for voice and piano, made by Sergei Pichugin, is based on early publication of the composer’s twelve cantatas (London, 1735). The aria may be an invaluable addition to the repertoire of vocal teachers and students. It is available in the original key of A major (E4 – A5) for high voice.

A solitary dancer in a chiffon dress and she dances completely in her own world.This original waltz, has  some of the romantic lines and influences of french composers fused with film harmonies.It is abundant in unusual/surprise progressions and It is in ternary form with a livelier middle section.It has been used in classical ballet as a free dance for solo, auditions etc.It would also work well as a radio or TV theme for the appropriate programme.It is 5 pages in length and around 3 minutes long-level of advanced intermediate-The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. Looking for a concert piece, recital, or something a little different to play?
