Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552164 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Classical,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 22 pages. Jmsgu3 #6252017. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552164). Divertimento No. 31 Hob. XI:31 originally scored for Baryton, Viola & Cello in Three Movements:I. Adagio cantabileII. Allegro di moltoII. MenuettoScore: 12 pages, Duration: 12:00Franz Josef Haydn was an Austrian composer who is best known for his work in the field of chamber music. He composed in a variety of musical forms, including divertimenti, trios and string quartets. He was a prolific composer who wrote over 100 pieces of chamber music and is believed to have been a major influence on the music of his students and contemporaries, including Mozart and Beethoven. Haydn's music is known for its balance and clarity in structure. His chamber works were known for their accessibility and elegance, with melodies that were often lighthearted and charming. His symphonies were well-crafted and often featured balanced melodic elements. Haydn composed many well-known divertimenti and trios, but his string quartets are what he is most celebrated for. He wrote some sixty to eighty string quartets, and these works were historically significant for expanding the limits of the genre and for their influence on the composers and musicians who followed him.

Brass Ensemble Bass Trombone,Cornet,Horn - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1227832 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 72 pages. Jmsgu3 #823794. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1227832). Minimum instrumentation: 4 Cornets in Bb, 4 Horns in F, 2 Tenor Trombones, and 2 Bass Trombones.InnovationsGabrieli preferred sacred vocal and, indeed, instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and reverberation for maximum effect. Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was the first to indicate them, such as in his Sonata Pian' e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He, therefore, developed and used particular notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style.Polychoral WorksGabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He indeed used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Indeed, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, followed by a group response. Sometimes, there was probably a third group near the main altar.Spatial MusicAbove all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation rather than two groups. Because they could be appropriately situated, the instruments could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper can, in contrast, sound perfectly in balance.First WorksFinally, Gabrieli published his first motets and his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). Furthermore, these compositions indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges characterized by instrumental accompaniment. Gabrieli's later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) seem to move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here, the instruments are an essential part of the presentation—also, only parts marked Capella are supposed to be sung.HomophonyHence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – called Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo. Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation rather than two groups. Because they could be appropriately situated, the instruments could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper can, in contrast, sound perfectly in balance.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.925422 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Harry Watters. 20th Century. Score and parts. 14 pages. Harry Watters Music #4884131. Published by Harry Watters Music (A0.925422). This was conceived as a trombone/low brass section feature to be programmed as part of a school band concert. The trombones can walk out in front of the concert band to perform, while your other band members rest their chops...it breaks things up nicely. This can also be done as a quartet, without the solo part. I encourage you to feature soloist(s) however, when possible. You can assign more than one to a part on everything except the improvised jazz solo segments with chord changes. The written out jazz solo can have more than one player, provided that you have balance throughout your section. If portions of the upper melody go too high for your trombonists, feel free to adjust and drop the octaves when needed.Everyone should adopt a fluid, relaxed approach throughout...make it sound easy :)Finally, I wish to thank Mr. Paul Murtha for his encouragement, insights and wise counsel and Mr. Nathan Pereda for his fine engraving skills. With best wishes,~Harry WattersHarryFrankWatters@gmail.com571-251-9041

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844455 Composed by John Alcock, Jr. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Instructional,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Phil Beaman #3365209. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844455). A Siciliano is based on a graceful rustic dance of Sicily, and is considered a type of Pastorale. The Siciliano style always has dotted rhythms. It is normally in compound time, but I have changed it here to make it more accessible for beginners.  This arrangement is based on the opening theme from Voluntary II for Organ by John Alcock, Jr. Mr. Alcock was an organist from the Classical Period and this piece is a great example of the Classical characteristics with a lyrical melody of light elegance. The two parts, which each stay within the range of 1 octave, are equally balanced, playing in parallel thirds much of the time, and the rest of the time playing off of each other in tight ensemble work.  This makes a great recital piece to develop your melodic tone and showcase the melodies of the Classical Period.  (1 page score, 1 page @ part, with repeats - 2 1/2 minutes)recording of piano playing the two parts to give you an idea

Brass Ensemble Euphonium,Low Brass Trio,Trombone,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553506 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical,Holiday,Wedding. Score and parts. 5 pages. RayThompsonMusic #2999109. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553506). The Five pieces of music  which are now known as the Suite for the Mechanical Organ or the Suite for Mechanical Clock (WoO33) surfaced after Beethoven's death, bringing with them several very puzzling mysteries. Most challenging of them all was the instrument for which they were written. Piano, strings, harp and most other common instruments were instantly ruled out, building on the perplexing mystery and adding to the frustration. Eventually, Albert Kopfermann set forth a convincing argument that their strange scoring seemed a perfect fit for the Flötenuhr or Spielühr, a mechanical organ or clock. He observed that the notation in No. 1, in F, matched that in Mozart's K. 608 Fantasia (for Flötenuhr), the score of which Beethoven possessed. Other circumstantial factors pointed to the Flötenuhr as the instrument Beethoven designed these pieces for. None of these five pieces was published until the twentieth century, and, not surprisingly, all are rarely heard. This is my arrangement of Mvt 3 Allegro for a brass trio of 3 euphoniums/ trombones. It will work work equally well with any three similar bass clef brass instruments or a mix of euphs and tuba.Trombonists will obviously ignore the trills in part 1.I have simplified some of the semi quaver passages, and moved some of the notes to fit within the range of the instrument(s).Fun for all 3 players.Enjoy!!

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845303 By Elvis Presley. By George David Weiss, Hugo Peretti, and Luigi Creatore. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Film/TV,Pop,Rock,Wedding. Score and parts. 13 pages. Phil Beaman #6713705. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845303). Can't Help Falling In Love was made famous by Elvis Presley on his album and film Blue Hawaii. My arrangement takes it from a 60's pop song to a gentle jazz ballad. It is totally reharmonized and has a fresh new feel. The melody is the same, except it has a new Time Signature. The song was originally in 6/8 but I have set it in 1/2 in order to get the pulse and phrasing I want. (Yes, 1 minim/half note per bar.) The original accompaniment was broken arpeggios, but now it is all about the rich new blocked chords. With repeats and a D.S. I have covered all 4 verses and bridges. Enjoy a fresh take on this forever classic. Great for weddings and nostalgic concerts.
