Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1003298 Composed by Dennis Tobenski. Contemporary,Folk. Octavo. 12 pages. Dennis Tobenski #539737. Published by Dennis Tobenski (A0.1003298). Sunset: St. Louis for SSA choir and piano was written at the suggestion of a conductor I met at the 2013 American Choral Directors’ Association national conference in Dallas, TX. He lamented the lack of new music for SSA choir that kept the voices within a restricted range yet wasn’t simplistic, and also didn’t use a restricitve number of accompanying instruments; throughout the week his sentiment was echoed by countless other conductors who I had the pleasure of spending time with. At that point, I also had no music for treble/women’s choir in my catalog, so this piece is not only an attempt to fill in this hole in the repertoire, but also an attempt to fill in the hole in my own choral output. The piece opens with a short passage for solo piano evocative of late afternoon light on water which leads into the voices’ hazy entrance of close diatonic harmonies and loose, liquid rhythms. After this soft opening, the piano begins a gently undulating, water-like accompaniment that – like the Mississippi – flows by, bringing harmonic shifts and swells. The words Dream by the river captured my imagination, conjuring images of the city drifting to sleep as the sun sets, so I couldn’t resist making the single word Dream into a refrain, weaving it into the larger structure of the poem, which makes the piece not only a love song to the city, but also a lullaby. The vocal parts have a compressed range: Soprano 1 has a few unsustained Gs, and the Alto line never drops below B-flat. There are some minor challenges with rhythm and pitch (hemiolas, tuplets, and some harmonic cross-relations with the piano), but all are navigable. The piece was written and prepared for publication in a compositional frenzy between 1pm on March 30, 2013 and 7pm on March 31, 2013 in Montauk, NY.Duration: ca. 4 min. Composed: 2013 Registered with ASCAP. Please email dennis@dennistobenski.com so that your performance of Sunset: St. Louis can be added to Dennis' website calendar. Piano,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533704 Composed by Carson Cooman. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and part. 38 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3039001. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533704). Sonata for Tuba and Piano (2007) was commissioned by and is dedicated to tubist MarkNelson for premiere at the 2007 Southwest Tuba and Euphonium Conference. The work isin three movements, each using the same basic musical material. Throughout the work, there is an integration of the total chromatic spectrum (represented through row-likeconstructions) with triadic and tonal elements, particularly connected to the interval of aminor third. The first movement, Speaking of Sunsets, is bold and dramatic throughout. The musicalmaterial is subjected to a series of circular paths that loop back on themselves until themovement ends. (The title refers to American poet James Tate’s poem Never Again theSame and also Charles Wuorinen’s musical setting of that text.)The second movement, Build Me a Garden, takes its title from an original song I overheardwhile planning this work. It sung by a homeless man who was then sitting on the banks ofthe Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts. His song (bearing both textual and musicalresemblance to various folk songs and African-American spirituals) spoke of hopes anddreams:Build me a garden, far ‘cross the seaBuild me a garden, a place I can beThe water is wide, the journey is long.I’ve put all my sorrows into this song. The movement opens with a slightly modified version of the song, which is developed overthe course of the movement. Connections are made between the first movement’s materialand the pentatonic melody (with its opening intervals of minor thirds). The third movement, Rising at Dawn, is a moto perpetuo. The ideas from both previousmovements are put together in new, dancing combinations. Coming out of the darker firsttwo movements, this movement continually seeks places of joy. The dance breaks down, and a recollection of the first movement leads to a bright coda.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376536 By Brooke Griffin Carpenter. By Brooke Griffin Carpenter. Arranged by Brooke Griffin Carpenter. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 8 pages. Brooke Griffin Carpenter #961065. Published by Brooke Griffin Carpenter (A0.1376536). I wrote this song to describe my feelings about the atonement of Jesus Christ. It's a conversation with the Savior about His role in my life and my desire to follow Him. It was greatly inspired by the October 2012 General Conference address The First Great Commandment by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. Elder Holland states: My beloved brothers and sisters, I am not certain just what our experience will be on Judgment Day, but I will be very surprised if, at some point in that conversation, God does not ask us exactly what Christ asked Peter: 'Did you love me?' I think He will want to know if in our very mortal, very inadequate, and sometimes childish grasp of things, did we at least understand one commandment, the first and greatest commandment of them all—'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind' (Luke 10:27; see also Matthew 22:37–38). And if at such a moment we can stammer out, 'Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee,' then He may remind us that the crowning characteristic of love is always loyalty. This song is a testament of the words I want to say when that day comes for me.*Please note that this is the choral version of this composition.

Small Ensemble Cello,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837000 Composed by Jay Vosk. Contemporary. Score and parts. 5 pages. Jay Vosk #2025045. Published by Jay Vosk (A0.837000). Lyric Passages is a work in four brief movements. The movements alternate in mood between introspective and playful. A common thread throughout the piece is a lyric section in whole or part of each movement. The first movement was conceived as an ‘aria’ for the oboe. At times the melody is shared by the other instruments in the ensemble. The second movement is more of a showpiece to display the technical prowess of the oboist. In the third movement, I intended to create music which is more atmospheric and coloristic in nature, while in the final movement, a playful scherzo concludes with a bit of bravura on the part of the oboist. Lyric Passages was composed in 2010 and premiered in 2011 at an IDRS conference at Arizona State University.

SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3613-E Composed by Kyle Pederson. Graduation. Instrument part. 10 pages. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3613-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3613-E). UPC: 600313136139. English.Selected as a ï¬nalist in the 2019 Ithaca College Choral Festival and premiered there as part of the festival. This piece received its Midwest premiere at the ACDA North/North Central regional conference in 2020, performed by Roosevelt High School, directed by Robyn Starks Holcomb. The text of the piece is addressed to anyone facing struggles—and it presents an honest afï¬rmation that those struggles are real. Rather than deny the existence of problems or pain, the listener is encouraged to “lean into†the hardship, to name it—and to thereby reduce its power. Textually and musically, the listener is presented with the metaphor of a tree—being whipped by the wind—but built to bend in that wind and ultimately withstand the pressure-ï¬lled gales. The power of community is also afï¬rmed—as the listener is encouraged to walk alongside—to bend along with—their neighbor.
