Sleeping Flowers is from the pianists album December that takes listeners on a journey from the rise of a new moon in September through the the New Year. Paul said, These introspective, tender, piano compositions have a minimal style of music reflecting the growing pains of a beautifully complex world. I'm alive because beating in my chest is the heart of of deceased man, thanks to organ donation. I understand that life is filled with irony, misconceptions, confusion, and yet darkness can't exist in the light. Our mortality is also filled with so much beauty, joy, serendipitous relationships. I want to capture all of these emotions in my music and hope it may will comfort and offer hope to listeners. Cardall's compositions have evolved in the two decades he's been recording piano music. His style and technique have evolved into a modern Classical style. He gives you a very strong grounding in his piano skills. Each composition has a concise structure, simple compositional techniques, manageable technical requirements and basic harmonies. Pieces are thought-provoking melodies, subtle and feature simple powerful string accompaniments. In addition, Cardall employs a minimalist approach that includes repetitive patterns or pulses, steady drones, consonant harmony, and reiteration of musical phrases or smaller units.

Small Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845911 Composed by Maria Thompson Corley. Concert,Contemporary,Latin. Score and parts. 8 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #4630091. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.845911). Part of a cycle that was included in the curriculum for classes on African American Art Song taught at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Jackdaws Music Education Trust, U.K. The text for Three Heart Riddles is about confusion regarding the hot and cold behavior of the object of the writer's affection. Each one begins with a question. The first is agitated, rhapsodic, and dissonant. The second is a tango. The third begins contemplative, then revisits the first and second riddles before ending in a devil-may-care manner.

Choral Choir,Choral,SSAA Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1487529 Composed by Marina Quintanilla. Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 15 pages. Rising Tide Music Press #1064475. Published by Rising Tide Music Press (A0.1487529). Poem by Sara Teasdalefor SSAA chorus + pianoCommissioned by the American Choral Directors Association as part of The New Canon Project. From the composer:Inspired by her travels, Vignettes Overseas is a collection of poems published in Sara Teasdale's massively successful book of poems, Rivers to the Sea. Written during a time where women's voices were often silenced, and just one year after her marriage, Night Song at Amalfi vibrantly illustrates the stuggle to be a woman in a society that expected women to be submissive, and the stark reality that she andmany other women faced. While women's rights have made great strides over the years, women and other minority groups still stuggle to have their voices heard. This song is for all of them. This piece was commissioned by the New Canon Project, a partnership between the American Choral Directors Association, the American String Teachers Association, and Rising Tide Music Press, with support of the Sphinx Venture Fund. This piece is written for school-aged groups, but is accessible to choirs of all levels and challenges the choir with part independence and modal writing. This piece starts out very open and celestial, then turns dark as the reality of unending silence setsin. There is hope, but also anger, confusion, and numbness. -Marina Quintanilla.

Violin Duet Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1488280 Composed by William Shield. Arranged by Robert Hoskins. Classical. 59 pages. Artaria Editions #1065168. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1488280). Artaria Editions AE388The London premires of Opp.1 and 2 probably took place at William Napier's morning concerts held at the Thatched House Tavern in St. James's Street. The performers at this venue were gentlemen amateurs backed with some professional assistance (possibly including Shield) and the audience consisted largely of nobility (but not ladies) on their way to court. Napier's concerts were more than a vehicle for airing newly published works or composers, and when it was proposed to revive the series in 1792, the Morning Chronicle of 28 January recalled that they had served to improve the taste and science of the amateur as well as introducing professional merit to the highest patronage. Shield's duets, expressly written with talented amateurs in mind (according to the title-page of Op.2), exactly suited the repertoire of the morning concerts. Both sets of duets are neatly engineered with a violinist's grasp of technique and articultion, and with each part sharing in the musical interest. The prevailing spirit of Op. 1 is Italianate and there are many attractive details to be heard. The amoroso movement of No.1, for example, with its ardent episodes and the hunting rondo of No.2 which begins with the representation of distant horn calls and later depicts a chromatically wounded prey. If the opening of No. 3 gives the impression of an exotic dance, including the audible thrum of a guitar or harp, then the rondo of No.4 can be imagined as a spring song animated with birds and breezes. The opening of No.5 is as propulsive as a theatre overture whilst No.6, written for either violins or flutes, assumes a suitably fluty tone. Op.2 is an altogether more compact set which sharpens the focus on elements already noticed in Op.1. Shield employs a variety of forms including minuet, variations, rondo and canon; and he also adopts vocal styles including lyric song (for the affettuoso movement of No.1) and arioso (for the opening adagio of No.2). The first movement of No. 3 sounds like a mini stage overture whilst the adagio of No. 5 can be heard as a melting duet. Both movements of No. 4 adhere to folk style, incorporating hurdygurdy like figurations and simulated versions of the northern pipe-tunes which Shield himself so avidly collected.  This edition presents as faithfully as possible the intentions of Napier's source. The style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout and, where missing, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. The notation of appoggiature has also been standardised to minimize confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets.  Robert Hoskins.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017072 Composed by Eoin Buchanan. Contemporary. Score and parts. 87 pages. 7plc Music #6079111. Published by 7plc Music (A0.1017072). At the centre of the Norfolk city of Norwich lies Tombland. The name evokes thoughts of haunting, death and Black Plague burial pits. Actually Tombland simply means empty space and it was here that Norwich market was sited. Violence seems to have been a recurring theme in the history of Tombland. In 1549 Robert Kett led a rebellion against the enclosure of common land. After a fierce attack on Bishop Bridge, Kett and his band of followers gained access to the city and took the Mayor, Thomas Codd, prisoner. Having spent a number of years as a clergyman in the Diocese of Norwich, I can tell you that this area is very different nowadays. However, its Normal cathedral and older buildings still offer a sense of struggles past, present and future. Inspired by Ray Sampson’s book, Tombland, this original work for full orchestra uses harmonic and rhythmic dissonance to portray the violent and oppressive struggle between those with and ‘those without. The blacksmith’s anvil heralds village life with church bells sounding and flute introducing children playing in the village square. Very quickly the scene changes as Basses offer a deep threatening tone and slowly the rhythmic confusion builds to an eventual climax. Horns then introduce a quasi carillon Dies Irae theme and flutes and piccolo enter with a haunting bird call until low strings and Cor Anglais begin the build up to chaos once again. The work’s false, dying ending suddenly gives way to a sacred style chorale leading to the very abrupt Malcolm Arnold style ending.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891971 Composed by Ludvig Schytte. Arranged by Stephen Davies. Romantic Period,Standards. 56 pages. Stephen Davies #6294323. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891971). Clarinet Sextet, very loosely based on SONATA by LUDVIG SCHYTTE. In this arrangement I have taken the liberty of fusing Victorian harmonies with a much more jazz based chordal approach, this behemoth of 306 bars has only one semi-quaver hidden away! Ludvig Schytte (28 April 1848 in Aarhus – 10 November 1909 in Berlin) was a Danish composer, pianist, and teacher. Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Schytte studied with Niels Gade and Edmund Neupert, and Liszt. In 1884, he travelled to Germany to study with Franz Liszt. Schytte lived and taught in Vienna between 1886 and 1907 and spent the last two years of his life teaching in Berlin. Originally trained as a pharmacist, Schytte composed a Piano Concerto in C-sharp minor, Op. 28, and a Sonata in B-flat, among numerous other piano works. He also wrote two operas: Hero (25 September 1898 in Copenhagen) and Der Mameluk (22 December 1903 in Vienna). His shorter works are still used today as educational studies for piano students. Incidentally I am reliably informed that his name is pronounced in Danish as Lullfig Shooter, just in case of any confusion!!!

Reproducible Score-Digital Version - Digital Download SKU: H1.9171DP Choral score. 76 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #9171DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.9171DP). Allen Pote.A Musical for Young Voices - The Story of the Tower of Babel Leading to Pentecost In Genesis 11 and Acts 2 we read about two events where languages helped fulfill God's purpose. When the people of Babel built the tower, they were led by the human spirit and ended up in confusion, scattered over the earth, speaking different languages. At Pentecost, people from many nations, speaking different languages, were led by the Holy Spirit; and even in their diversity, they were united. This 35-minute musical for young voices (Unison w/opt. Two-Part) links together these Old Testament and New Testament stories with songs, humor and heart. The message is, if we follow the Great Commandments - ?loving God and loving our neighbors, no matter how different from us they are or what language they speak - we will surely be filled with the Holy Spirit. A score with piano accompaniment and a singers edition without the piano part are both included for the one price. You may make as many copies as you require for use by your choir. Separate audio MP3s and instrumental parts are available, and there is a video of the debut performance on the Hope YouTube channel.
