Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955858 Composed by Alfredo Catalani. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. A Cappella,Concert,Film/TV,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. Octavo. 4 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6454731. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955858). Ebben? Ne andrò lontana (Well then, I’ll go far away) is the aria sung by Wally when she decides to leave her home forever in the opera La Wally (1892).  Composer Alfredo Catalani originally created the aria as Chanson Groënlandaise in 1878 and later incorporated it into his opera.  The aria was also featured in the French thriller Diva (1981).  It has been arranged for 4-part SATB ensemble to be performed a cappella.  This arrangement of an operatic masterpiece was created to make ‘Opera’ accessible to wider audiences for various reasons (instructive, educational purposes; and performance familiarity to/for a larger population).  The original melody and harmonies are used.  It retains the original foreign language text.  This arrangement is an excellent tool for introducing ‘Opera’ music in the classroom, and programming diversity in the concert hall.  Performance time: 2:21+-

Cello,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522291 Composed by G F Handel. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Baroque,Easter,Holiday. Score and part. 6 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6632869. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522291). This piece is probably Handel’s best-known melody, although it began life as an operatic aria. The opera was called Xerxes, sometimes written Serses and pronounced something like “ZERT-seesâ€. It was commissioned by The King’s Theater in London and composed by Handel (who had become naturalized British and lived in London at the time) around 1737 and 1738. The opera is loosely based on the historical figure King Xerxes, who ruled from around 522-486 BC and was the fourth king of the Achaemenid Empire, a vast region that covered most of the present-day Middle East.   The melody is often known simply as Handel’s Largo (despite being marked “Larghetto†in the musical score) and is the opening aria in the opera. The aria, known by its opening line Ombra mai fu is sung by Xerxes to a plane tree: “Tender and beautiful fronds of my beloved plane tree, let fate smile upon you...†Although this lovely melody has survived over the years, the opera itself was a complete failure when it was first performed in London in 1738. This arrangement is in G major and the cello part is written in the bass clef throughout. The top note is the G above the bass clef (G4) and the piece generally requires the use of long and sustained bowing (indicted in the score), though the cello fingering has been omitted. The piano part has been kept as simple as possible. Being so well-known, this piece would make a popular encore number for a cello recital.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.740277 By The Usaf Band. By Giacomo (Dp) Puccini and Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Craig Garner. Contemporary. Octavo. 27 pages. Dorm 40 Music #4411085. Published by Dorm 40 Music (A0.740277). This arrangement is part of the Chicago Gargoyle Brass &  Organ Ensemble Signature Series. Nessun dorma (None shall sleep) is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and is one of the best-known arias in all of  opera. Although Nessun dorma has long been a staple of operatic recitals, Luciano Pavarotti popularized the piece well beyond the world  of opera with his many recordings and live performances. Nessun  dorma became his signature aria. Nessun dorma also appeared on the best-selling classical album of all time, The  Three Tenors in Concert. However, our favorite  version will always be the soul-infused rendition by Aretha  Franklin during the 1998 Grammy  Awards, in which she sang in place of Pavarotti when he was unable to perform due to throat problems. This arrangement, for mixed choir (SATB), organ, brass quintet and timpani/suspended cymbal, includes the  aria, as well as the final chorus of the opera. Brass and organ play the  entirety of the aria, and choir begins to sing at the final chorus, to dramatic  effect. This arrangement includes a  full score, organ/vocal score with English text, percussion and brass parts (trumpet parts are provided for both B-flat and C; the percussion part is designed for one player). Vocal score may be freely  copied for all members of the choir. Perfect for any concert, and it makes a great  encore, as well! If you don’t have a choir,  we’ve got you covered. Dorm 40 Music has a published a version for brass  quintet, organ and percussion. And, it is available for sale on Sheet Music  Plus. Performance time, 4:00. Descant Recorder,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746822 Composed by Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Opera,Patriotic,World. 5 pages. Keith Terrett #3579853. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746822). Nessun Dorma arranged for Descant Recorder & Piano. Nessun dorma (Italian: [nesˈsun ˈdɔrma]; English: None shall sleep) is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. It is sung by Calaf, il principe ignoto (the unknown prince), who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. However, any man who wishes to wed Turandot must first answer her three riddles; if he fails, he will be beheaded. In the aria, Calaf expresses his triumphant assurance that he will win the princess.Although Nessun dorma has long been a staple of operatic recitals, Luciano Pavarotti popularized the piece beyond the opera world in the 1990s following his performance of it for the 1990 World Cup. Both Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo released singles of the aria that topped charts in the United Kingdom, and it appeared on the best selling classical album of all time, The Three Tenors in Concert. Since that time, many crossover artists have performed and recorded it. The aria has been sung often in movies and on television.

Diego Marani #4747143. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528108). Cavalleria rusticana (Italian for rustic chivalry) is an opera in one act by Pietro Mascagni, adapted from an 1880 short story of the same name and subsequent play by Giovanni Verga. Considered one of the classic verismo operas, it premiered on 17 May 1890 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. The opera's symphonic Intermezzo has figured in the sound track of several films, most notably in the opening of Raging Bull and in the finale of The Godfather Part III, which also featured a performance of the opera as a key part of the film's climax. This arrangement for Concert Band includes the following parts: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Solo Bb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet 1-2-3, Bb Bass Clarinet, Eb Alto Saxophone 1-2, Bb Tenor Saxophone, Eb Baritone Saxophone, Bb Trumpet 1-2, F/Eb Horn 1-2, C/Bb Trombone 1-2, C/Bb Baritone (Euphonium), C/Bb Tuba, String Bass, Harp or Piano (optional part).

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.581670 Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by John Gibson. Opera,Romantic Period. 43 pages. JB Linear #2029123. Published by JB Linear (A0.581670). Pas de Quatre (ballet music for 4 dancers) from the Giuseppi Verdi opera, Jerusalem, set for woodwind quartet (flexible instrumentation) by John Gibson. It is arranged for flute, oboe or flute 2, Bb clarinet, and bass clarinet or bassoon. There are five short ballet pieces that could be performed together or separately. Verdi and other Italian opera composers did not like to include ballet music in their operas, but if they wanted their piece to be performed in Paris, they were required to write ballet pieces. They are mostly left out of opera performances now, but the music is delightful and worth playing!

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.491689 Composed by Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Juan José Peláez Vilanova. 20th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 34 pages. John Joseph #107228. Published by John Joseph (A0.491689). The style of Giacommo Puccini represents the union of Italian and German opera traditions, at the same time that, under the influence of Bizet and Massenet, tooks the taste for the exotic and historical location of his operas. This is the case of the opera Tosca, wich plot was inspired in the times of Napoleon’s invasion of Italy and the confrontation between liberals and monarchists. In the third act of this opera, Cavaradossi, sentenced to death and while he is a prisoner in the Castle of Sant'Angelo, evokes the intimate moments lived with his beloved Tosca, singing the aria E lucevan le stelle, as the night dissipates and slowly the time of its execution is approaching. This transcription for symphonic band takes advantage of the wind orchestra’s sound colors and resources to achieve both the intimate character of Cavaradossi’s thoughts and the intensity and frustration he ultimately shows against his inevitable fate.

Digital Download SKU: S9.Q3655 Opera in 3 acts. Composed by Sir Michael Tippett. This edition: vocal/piano score. Downloadable, Piano reduction. Duration 102' 0. Schott Music - Digital #Q3655. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q3655). English. The wildest and most open of his operas, New Year is an extraordinarily youthful conception for a composer in his mid-eighties, a work that spins his lyrical ecstasy and rhythmic vitality into a new world on the point of disintegration. Unlike its four predecessors, all of which had been written for the Royal Opera House, this one was composed for Houston Grand Opera, a relocation that encouraged Tippett to veer from opera to musical, evenrock musical, giving space to pop song, spoken dialogue, joke and, above all, dance—the communal movement of bodies that would, as in The MidsummerMarriage but now within a much looser framework, with music say what words could not. Jo Ann and Donny—young woman and youngman, white and black, both orphans—cannot join the dance, isolated as they are inside their personal fears and fantasies. And the dance itself is imperilled by social unease in this city that is ‘Somewhere and Today’.To it come visitors from ‘Nowhere and Tomorrow’: the captain (Regan), pilot (Pelegrin) and computer wizard (Merlin) of a space vessel—though thesescience-fiction characters turn out to be ritual agents (and to have human problems of their own). Donny undergoes a magical transformation; Jo Ann, through love, gains the courage to leave the room in which she has been hiding.(Paul Griffiths)3 (3pic).2.ca.1.bcl.3sax.1.cbn-4.2.3.1-perc (s.d., t.d., b.d., jazz kit, slit dr., 2 steel dr. Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1217886 Composed by Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Jacob Niederhoffer. 19th Century,20th Century,Chamber,Opera,Romantic Period. 14 pages. Jacob Niederhoffer #814403. Published by Jacob Niederhoffer (A0.1217886). Three brief piano pieces written by Puccini, remarkable as the rest of his compositional output was almost exclusively operatic. The most famous of the three, the short waltz written in 1894, went on to become the basis for the aria Quando m'en vo' or Musetta's Waltz from La Bohème. The tango, possibly inspired by one of Puccini's trips to the US, displays jazz-influenced harmonies and some experimentation with polytonality. The album leaf, written near the end of Puccini's life, is a short, melodically mercurial work, with references to both jazz and operatic writing.
