Paul-Agricole Génin was born on 14th February 1832, in Avignon; died 22nd December 1903, in Paris, France.   His is often confused with Pierre Génin, who was a flutist who performed mainly in England during the early  20th century.Génin was the Principal flute of the Theatre Italien in Paris, and of the Colonne Orchestra. In addition to writing many works for the flute (he wrote over 60 works for this instrument, he was also one of the first  composers to write for the saxophone. He was an Officier de l’Académie des Beaux-ArtsThe six works in the set of Opus 15 are among the first works ever written for the saxophone. They are in the form of charactor pieces; The Introduction is in the style of a florid bel-canto récitative with a  lively polonnaise in several contrasting sections.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811704 Composed by Joseph Bodin De Boismortier (1689 - 1755). Arranged by Edited & arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Standards. 43 pages. Piper Publications #4338647. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811704). SONATA No. 1 in A MAJOR SONATA No. 2 in E MINOR SONATA No. 3 in D MAJOR Written for 2 equal instruments these sonatas bring pleasure to players of intermediate standard and above whilst developing their independent playing skills. Each sonata has 4 movements slow and fast alternating in the same key. The six opus 8 sonatas were published in Paris in 1725 for ‘deux Flûtes-Transversiere sans Basse’. They were published ‘Avec Privilége du Roy.’ They were printed as a playing score preceeded by a title page which also gave details of where to obtain copies - L’Auter, Le Sr. Boivin & Le Sr. Le Clere.  A copy of the Privilége du Roy.  granted by King Louis on March 22nd 1724 was printed in full on the second page. It is highly likely that the sonatas would have been played by pairs of oboes or violins or possibly by bassoons or cellos according to the players available in the homes of the wealthy amateur players who could afford to buy music. The flute parts were printed in the soprano clef - with G on the bottom line. This would have been convenient for flute players who often also played bassoon when required and were often not keyboard players. This edition uses the modern bass clef and has a score plus separate parts to facilitate page turns.  In editing the sonatas the  presentation of the music has been modernised.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1282260 By Aere Greenway. By Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Aere Greenway. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 105 pages. Aere R Greenway #873570. Published by Aere R Greenway (A0.1282260). Brahms composed his piano sonata in F-minor, in 1853, at the age of 20.  Markings in the piano music, such as 'like cello', or in another place 'like pizzicato', suggest he was thinking in orchestral terms.  Indeed, the earliest sketches of his 1st symphony come from the year his sonata in F-minor was published.  Yet he worked at least 14 years on his first symphony, finally publishing it in 1876, at age 43.  What if Brahms had orchestrated his sonata in F-minor, opus 5, publishing it as his first symphony, in his youth, rather than at age 43?  Attempting to answer that, I embarked on a big project, to orchestrate Brahms sonata in F-minor, into a symphony.  And you can listen to it yourself, as the music of Brahms comes shining through, as a symphony that 'might have been'.  Though the instrument choices and dynamics adjustments for orchestra are mine, the music is all Brahms.  See what you think.  This is the 5th movement, the Finale.  The music of Brahms is a long-time favorite of symphony audiences, and this could be a hit with your audience, as well.

Opus 120. 62 pages. Published by Bisel Classics - Digital (BQ.979-0-50179-116-3). ISBN 9790501791163.Overdue for modern reappraisal, the works of Ferdinand Ries represent a treasure trove of pieces that easily stand alongside his illustrious predecessor and former teacher, Beethoven. A serious concert work for which the faint of heart need not apply this rarely heard concerto deserves to be rediscovered for the original work it is. In this Pastoral, Ries transcends the accepted Beethoven model to create a work of enduring natural beauty and depth.
