BJE Music #3867931. Published by BJE Music (A0.750840). Puer nobis nascitur, usually translated as Unto Us is Born a Son, is a medieval Christmas carol found in a number of manuscript sources - the 14th-century German Moosburg Gradual and a 15th-century Trier manuscript. The song was first published in the 1582 Finnish songbook Piae Cantiones, a volume of 74 medieval songs with Latin texts… The carol became popular as a processional hymn following a translation by George Ratcliffe Woodward (1859-1934) first published in 1902. Percy Dearmer also translated the hymn for inclusion in the 1928 Oxford Book of Carols as Unto Us a Boy is Born.  Both translations are commonly used. [Wikipedia] This is the version of the words used here… Unto us a boy is born, King of all creation: Cradled in a stall was He, The Lord of every nation, The Lord of every nation.   This arrangement is for both Concert Band and Orchestra – both instrumentations can be used or various combinations of each.  There are both Vocal Lead Sheet and optional Organ/Piano part.   The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.   Grade = 3 Duration = 2:25 mins.

Flavio Regis Cunha #6058053. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.597440). Cantique de Jean Racine (Chant by Jean Racine), Op. 11, is a composition for mixed choir and piano or organ by Gabriel Fauré. The text, Verbe égal au Très-Haut (Word, one with the Highest), is a French paraphrase by Jean Racine of a Latin hymn from the breviary for matins, Consors paterni luminis. The nineteen-year-old composer set the text in 1864–65 for a composition competition at the Ã‰cole Niedermeyer de Paris, and it won him the first prize. The work was first performed the following year on 4 August 1866 in a version with accompaniment of strings and organ. The style shows similarities with his later work, Requiem. Today, the two works are often performed together. This arrangement was written for orchestra and Choir. Enjoy!
