Organ - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7340 Composed by Naji Hakim. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 6 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7340. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7340). Born in Beirut and trained at the Paris Conservatoire, the organist and composer Naji Hakim (*1955) has won numerous prizes both as a creative and as a performing artist. After having worked as an organist in Paris for many years, for example as successor to Olivier Messiaen at La Trinité, he has been composer-in-residence at the Royal Academy of Music in London since 2004. For the 100th anniversary of the Binns organ at the Albert Hall in Nottingham he was commissioned to write 'Fanfare for Nottingham'. The composer designed the work as 'a series of free and energetic variations on the melody of the hymn Nottingham accompanying a merry procession' – it has become a hymnic and effective work, a valuable addition to the organ repertoire.

Soprano and organ - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7204 Variations on an English Hymn. Composed by Naji Hakim. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 6 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7204. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7204).

Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.828694 Composed by Johann Speth. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Baroque. Score. 6 pages. Guido Menestrina #115545. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828694). Johann Speth (1664-1719) - Toccata Prima oder erstes musikalishes Blumen-Feld Transcribed by Guido Menestrina - youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8huOtZ9bQak From Wikipedia: Johann (Johannes) Speth (9 November 1664 – after 1719) was a German organist and composer. He was born in Speinshart, some 150 km from Nuremberg, but spent most of his life in Augsburg, where he worked as cathedral organist for two years. His only surviving music is a 1693 collection, Ars Magna Consoni et Dissoni, which includes toccatas, Magnificat versets and variations in south German style. Speth was born in Speinshart, Bavaria, to teacher Heinrich Speth and his wife Margareta (née Vichtl). Past scholars established that Speth must have received music lessons from the abbot of the Premonstratensian monastery at Speinshart, one Dominikus Lieblein, however, this has recently been disproven. Nothing is known about his life before 1692, when he applied for the position of organist of Augsburg Cathedral. The application, which contained Speth's compositions, was accepted, and he was appointed organist on 4 November 1692. The music he supplied with the application was published the next year in Augsburg as Ars magna Consoni et Dissoni. In the files of the cathedral administration there is a note from 1705 showing that Speth had also to work in the office of the cathedral chapter. The exact date of Speth's death is unknown, but there is a document that shows that in 1719, he still lived with his wife and a maidservant in Augsburg. The composer's only surviving work is the collection published in 1693 in Augsburg, Ars magna Consoni et Dissoni. The title may be a reference to Athanasius Kircher's famous book, Musurgia universalis, sive ars magna consoni et dissoni (1650). An early description of the work was included by Johann Gottfried Walther in his Musikalisches Lexicon; Walther claimed Speth only compiled the pieces but did not compose. This hypothesis is now generally considered false. Ars Magna contains music intended for organ or clavichord: 10 toccatas (subtitled Musicalische Blumen-Felder), 8 Magnificat settings, and three variation sets. The music has clearly traceable Italian influences, with direct borrowings: one of the variation sets is built on a theme by Bernardo Pasquini, there is also a passage from Bernardo Storace in the Spangioletta variation set, and a verset by Alessandro Poglietti (quinti toni no. 3). The influence of contemporary southern organists is also apparent, particularly that of Georg Muffat and Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer. The toccatas are unusually short for the genre; most consist of three (toccata-fugue-toccata) sections. There are some interesting features such as dynamic indications in Toccata quarta. The Magnificat settings are, like similar pieces by Johann Kaspar Kerll and others, short versets for alternatim practice.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: IZ.IMF177 Composed by Willard Zirk. Score and Parts. 9 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #IMF177. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMF177). 9 x 12 in inches. The title, 95 @ 500, Variations on Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, refers to Martin Luther's 95 theses, which (according to legend) Luther nailed on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. What is known for sure is that Luther sent his Disputation on the Power of Indulgences by post to the Archbishop of Mainz on October 31, 1517. Meant only as a set of assertions for debate in hopes of reforming the church, Luther's act began a revolution in the Christian church that had great consequences. One major change was the use of more simple music that could be sung by the congregation instead of a trained choir. Hence, the Lutheran chorale was born.95 @ 500 was originally written for a trombone quartet. It was the second commission by students of my colleague and friend at Eastern Michigan University, trombone professor, Donald Babcock. They gave me carte blanche, so I took the opportunity to fulfill my wish to write a piece to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation. Later, as I began adapting this work for organ, I soon realized that it would become a unique work in its own right.

Organ - Medium to Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.10-569-E Composed by Emma Lou Diemer. Ascension, Feast of Corpus Christi. 24 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #10-569-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.10-569-E). Emma Lou Diemer is widely recognized as one of the leading women composers of the late 20th century. In this publication she applies her unique compositional style to two well-known hymns. LASST UNS ERFREUEN is a celebratory setting with a wide variety of harmonic colors. The work is a free setting of the hymn, with motives from it being used rather than complete statements. Her set of Variations on ADORO TE DEVOTE (ADORO TE/ADORO DEVOTE) is a meditative, expressive setting of the Benedictine plainsong. The variations vary from quiet to more intense, with the central variation a moving canon between the pedal and upper voice subsiding to a prayerful ending.
