Score and parts. 44 pages. Regis Bookshar #6612661. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813878). French Horn Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the March from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the March for a French Horn Octet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the March, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the Russian Dance as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the March from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Suite, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Published by Ren Challacombe (A0.1348485). Originally published in 1921, The Call of Home is a song written about the warmth of family and the strength it gives during times of strife with text by Abbie Farwell Brown and the original arangement by Paul Ambrose. The original text written reads:The path is hard, your feet must travel little oneThe way is long and weary is the loadThe clouds are black that threaten soon to hide the sunA chilling fear is lurking by the roadBut gather close the cloak your mother wove for youTo keep you safe in danger and in stormTheir very heart have made a shield of love for youStrong as her faith, and like her courage warm. The cheery house that craddled you is far awayThe pretty toy that pleased you as a childThe inn you hope to enter at the close of dayIs hidden still beyond the forest wildBut wrap you warm in love that was the whole of herAnd walk in joy, as she would have you doThe thread of life she spun from out the soul of herDraws you to her again a magic clueThe lyrics and voicings have been modified to speak of kin rather than a singular mother figure. Appropriate for early-intermediate choirs. Arranged for three-part mixed-voice choir and piano.

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Viola - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1199396 Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by André Nusa. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. 11 pages. Andre_Nusa #798464. Published by Andre_Nusa (A0.1199396). Addio del passato is a deeply moving and melancholic aria from the opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. Although originally composed for soprano voice and orchestra, the piece can be arranged for a variety of instrumental combinations, including a classical guitar and viola duo like this. The arrangement highlights the beauty of the original aria, while also showcasing the unique qualities of the viola and classical guitar. The viola plays the melody and the guitar plays the accompaniment with some occasional solo parts. The classical guitar and viola arrangement of Addio del passato is a touching interpretation of Verdi's timeless aria. The interplay between the two instruments creates a nuanced and expressive performance that highlights the emotional depth and beauty of the original piece.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845167 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. 8 pages. Phil Beaman #6293527. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845167). Vom Tode (Death) was composed by the Master, L. van Beethoven. It is the third of the Sechs Lieder (Six Songs), published in 1803, which foreshadowed the Art Songs of the Romantic Era. Originally for Voice and Piano, I have arranged it for Instrumental Quartet. My arrangement stays true to Beethoven's intent to capture the passion of the original text in the music. (The texts are all sacred poems by Gellert.) Without the presence of lyrics I needed to create musical interest and interpretation, so I realized inner voices and polyphony out of his original homophonic accompaniment. I added new shape to individual lines, altered phrasing, elaborated rhythms, and in true Beethoven style added more dynamic markings. The mood and meaning are now stunningly portrayed through music alone. Vom Tode is full of subtle dissonances as it solemnly, but Faithfully, contemplates the end of life. There is a rhythmic ostinato for the unrelenting march to Him.

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548487 Composed by Gruber. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas. Score and part. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #3387051. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548487). Silent Night arranged for Flute & Piano with new harmony for verse three. Score: 2 pg. Part: 1 pg. Silent Night Origins Father Joseph Mohr wrote the lyrics for a new Christmas Carol. He wanted the new carol for his Christmas Eve Mass. With only a couple of hours until the service, He asked organist and schoolteacher Franz Gruber to write a melody and simple accompaniment to go with the lyrics. The result is probably the most famous of all Christmas carols – Silent Night. First Performance Perhaps because the organ was undergoing repairs, or to make sure the accompaniment was easy enough, Mohr asked Gruber to write it for the guitar. Mohr played the guitar, and both Mohr and Gruber gave the world premiere performance at the Christmas Eve Mass in 1818 at St. Nicholas Church in Oberndorf in Salzburg. Original Score Eventually, the original score became lost, and consequently, Mohr's name was largely forgotten.  Though the public originally recognized Gruber as the composer, many people over time began rumors that a more famous composer was responsible. Thus, they floated the names of Haydn, Mozart, and even Beethoven. Authorities eventually settled the matter when a manuscript in Mohr’s handwriting turned up in 1820. Consequently, we learn that Mohr wrote the lyrics in 1816, and Gruber composed the melody in 1818. Popularity Nonetheless, Silent Night is still very popular. Singers have performed this song in nearly every genre and in multiple languages. Perhaps the most famous version is the one Bing Crosby crafted. This version is the third best-selling physical single recording in the history of recorded music. This particular recording was released in 1935 and sold at least 30 million copies. Only two songs have ever sold more. Elton John released Candle in the Wind in 1997 and sold 33 million copies. The record for most copies ever sold goes to Bing Crosby. He released White Christmas in 1942 and sold 50 million physical copies. Register for free lifetime updates and revisions at www.jamesguthrie.com

Baroque,Christmas,Easter,Sacred,Wedding. 6 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #722614. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1121437). This easy arrangement for cello and piano has been adapted to be simple to perform and understand the structure of the original work for various levels of musical knowledge. It can be played freely by beginning students because of the ease imposed on the piece. It is often performed at wedding ceremonies slowly and reverently, challenging the effect suggested by Bach in his original score for voices with trumpet, oboes, strings, and continuous bass. This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works.

The Sony Classical release was voted by People Magazine as one of the top ten albums in all musical categories in 1996. O’Connor scored the original recording of Old Country Fairy Tale to include doublebass. Here, he has adapted the instrumentation to call for violin, viola and cello for improved playability. The composition features O’Connor’s beautiful melodic phrases dynamically ushered into the classic setting. His theme for Old Country Fairy Tale undergoes a development of three different dance traditions found in fiddle music– the Hornpipe, Waltz and Jig,– which in broad terms, presents a unique version of a fiddle contest round. New music with an old spirit. The music is suited for advanced and intermediate levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1993 Composed By Mark O’ConnorOriginally released on Appalachia Waltz featuring Mark O’Connor, Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer, Sony ClassicalOld Country Fairy Tale can be heard on Mark O'Connor's Crossing Bridges OMAC Recordshttps://omacrecords.com/omac-7-crossing-bridges Catalogue Number MO128CCopyright © 1993 by Mark O’Connor Music InternationalFor more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor Method – instructional book series for violin, viola, cello and school string orchestra programs:www.oconnormethod.com
