The Last Rose of Summer is a work deeply rooted in Irish culture, originally penned as a poem by the renowned poet and composer Thomas Moore in 1805. Walking In Her Garden is a piano solo arrangement of the 1904 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a waltz ballad for voice and piano. I have converted the main theme into an oom-pah-pah waltz and greatly increased the tempo to a brisk concert waltz. The B theme resorts to a waltz ballad similar to the original. There is then a brief recapitulation of the oom-pah-pah theme, and a soft lento ballad ending. This catchy Reggae-style piece, originally made famous by John Legend, features solo Alto Saxophone with Piano Accompaniment geared toward the High School or advanced Middle School performer.  It is in concert Bb-major (written G-major).  The alto sax range in this arrangement spans from written D4 to D5 [on the staff]. The diatonic nature of this arrangement (only 2 measures contain an accidental) and the range make this easily accessible to younger performers. There is, however, some syncopation in keeping with the original melody, but nothing out-of-reach for a competent performer.  The piano accompaniment is reasonably simple: a somewhat active L.H. part with chord comping in the R.H.

O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally written in Latin as Adeste Fideles) is a Christmas carol which has been attributed to various authors, including John Francis Wade (1711–1786), with the earliest copies of the hymn all bearing his signature, John Reading(1645–1692) and King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656). The original four verses of the hymn were extended to a total of eight, and these have been translated into many languages. The English translation of O Come, All Ye Faithful by the English Catholic priest Frederick Oakeley, written in 1841, is widespread in most English speaking countries.

Calypso d’Isaac is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Flutes.

This duet is written in the style of Calypso music. Calypso’s roots lie in West Africa but first appeared in recognisable form in the late 19th century in Trinidad.  Originally sung in French Creole, the music quickly spread throughout the Caribbean and Venezuela. The modern English-language Trinidadian style is often topical and political in content. Calypso performers such as Mighty Sparrow in turn have inspired new styles such as Ska, Reggae and Soca, while Calypso rhythms can be heard in countless international hits such as Mary’s Boy Child and Disney’s Under the Sea.

About the song

Ave Maria is one of Franz Schubert's most well-known and revered compositions. Although it is often associated with the Catholic prayer, Schubert's music is actually an adaptation of a work by Walter Scott, a Scottish poet. Schubert composed the melody as part of his piece Ellens Gesang III (Ellen's Song III), which is a series of songs based on Scott's poems.

Ave Maria was composed in 1825 and is one of the most popular and beloved pieces in the classical repertoire. The gentle and melancholic melody, combined with the Latin lyrics invoking the Virgin Mary, evokes a sense of serenity and devotion. While it was originally written for voice and piano, the melody has also been adapted for various instruments and choirs.

Interestingly, Schubert was unaware that his melody would become widely known as Ave Maria. The original title of the composition is Ellens Gesang III: Hymne an die Jungfrau (Ellen's Song III: Hymn to the Virgin). The fame of Ave Maria came later when different versions of the melody were published and performed with the Latin lyrics.

This arrangement adapted for clarinet ensemble was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. The transcription remains faithful to the structure, with only one change in tone, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as being used as an activity in ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions. Beethoven's Turkish March (Op. 113) is the 4th movement of the operatic work: The Ruins of Athens, a set of incidental pieces written in 1812 by Ludwig van Beethoven, where the melody was originally written in 1809 as Theme with Six Variations for Piano, Op. 76. The work was written to accompany the play of the same name by August von Kotzebue, for the dedication of a new theater in Pest. Perhaps the best known part of the composition is the Marcia alla turca, In Latin America, this movement became known in Jean-Jacques Perrey's version (who titled it The Elephant never Forgets) since it was used as the opening theme of the successful Mexican TV comedy El Chavo del Ocho. The opening and the turkish march are often performed separately, and the other pieces in this set are not often heard.
