Piano Quartet,String Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.905620 Composed by David Perkins. Concert,Contemporary,Wedding. Score and parts. 31 pages. David Perkins #4631781. Published by David Perkins (A0.905620). The Sandy Path That Leads Me Down is an arrangement for Piano Quartet - Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello. Originally a setting of a poem by John Betjemen, this piece re-arranged for Piano Quartet, has become a wordless song in its own right. The somewhat cryptic title is a line taken from the original poem. This and seven other pieces (yet to be arranged) will eventually form a suite of pieces entitled As Wordless as the Windy Sky. Together they will create a broadly biographical sequence from the boundless imagination of childhood, through holidays, religion, love, the pleasures of the middle years to the inevitability of old age.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Baritone Horn TC,Euphonium,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842571 Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by Sean Brennan. Classical,Concert,Graduation,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 19 pages. Bl_music #6643225. Published by bl_music (A0.842571). Theme and Variations by G. Rossini, arr. Brennan for Solo Euphonium/Baritone with Piano accompaniment This edition is the theme and variations from Rossini's Introduction, Theme and Variations originally for clarinet and orchestra.                This version has been performed and recorded by a number of internationally renowned Euphonium soloists. We first published the complete Introduction, Theme and Variations for Euphonium in 1991 and performed it on a 1830s ophicleide and a 1840s square piano in 1993. This edition comes with a shortened introduction, theme and variations. Duration around 8 ½ min. Solo part in treble and bass clef.Message from Sean Brennan:This arrangement, or more correctly transcription, was first published by us in 1991, although its origins go back much further than that. I do remember being transfixed in the 1970s by Richard Stoltzman’s recording of the original form of the work for clarinet and orchestra. I was convinced it would work for Euphonium and that one day there would be players with the technique, and above all musicality, to bring it off. For me, this vision came true in 1994 when we first performed the piece in Birmingham in 2004, and then again 10 years later when David Thornton and the Black Dyke Band recorded the Theme and Variations. Rossini composed the Introduction, Theme and Variations for clarinet and orchestra in 1810 at the request of a fellow student at the Conservatorio di Bologna. Although the autograph score has been lost, and some musicologists have questioned the authenticity of the work, I find no reason for doubt since Rossini recycled some of the material in later works, and apart from that his evervascent musical personality is abundant from beginning to end.

Cello - Digital Download SKU: A0.1103915 By Ölveti Mátyás and Mády-Szabó Eszter. By David Warin Solomons. Chamber,Contemporary. Full Performance. Duration 195. David Warin Solomons #707199. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1103915). Composed originally as a vocal duo as I walked one day from Denning Point in the East End of London to sing at a service at St Michael's Cornhill around 1986, this version can be played on various instruments but preferably duos of the same instrument or at least instruments of the same range. The words of the original vocal duo are: I heard a happy song on a lonely city street; but it was a song of the past. It was a song from the days when the street was a meadow path; it was a song when the flowers on the window boxes had grass for company. It was a song when the Cathedral could be seen above the rooftops. I heard a happy song on a lonely city street; but it was a song from the future: song from the days when the street will dance with children It was a song when the flowers in the window boxes will learn to sing. It was a song when the rooftops won't be seen above the clouds. I heard a happy song on a lonely city street; and it is a song of now But it is a song I will sing from the rooftops to entrance the clouds. Performed by Ölveti Mátyás and Mády-Szabó Eszter of Budapest Scoring Cellos.

Published by David McKeown (A0.588870). Hava Nagila is a Hebrew Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Flutes. Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.805841 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by G L Harvey. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 21 pages. G L Harvey #4611283. Published by G L Harvey (A0.805841). This work is from Grieg's Lyric Pieces originally written for piano in 1891.  I must confess that this is one of my favorite piano works to play and I've always thought that it would make a great piece for brass ensemble.  This arrangement keeps mostly to the original voicing and style, with the melodic elements flowing mostly between the two trumpets and horn.  Performance notes suggest  placing the trumpets at opposite ends of the ensemble to make the most of the stereo or antiphonal effect from the melody sweeping back and forth. Players of advanced intermediate standard (about grade 5+ ABRSM) will be able to produce a convincing performance.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1150422 Composed by Carrie Jacobs-Bond. Arranged by Phil Beaman. 20th Century. Score. 5 pages. Phil Beaman #750599. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1150422). Over Hills and Fields of Daisies is a piano solo arrangement of the 1902 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano. I have created three variations based on the original piece. After a thick chordal introduction, the first variation places both hands up an octave in a 2/4 time scherzo with a slightly altered melodic rhythm and minim/half note blocked 7th chords in the LH. The second variation further changes the melodic rhythm to 3/4 time and elaborates the chordal harmony. The third variation dramatically extends across three staves back in 2/4 time, with the melody only implied in half-time and thick cascading chords in both hands, (a la Rachmaninoff's Preludes, written just the year before this piece). 5 page score; 2:54 minutes This piece is also found in my book, Carrie Jacobs-Bond, Popular Songs 1900-1925, a collection of 51 of her songs I have arranged for piano solo, which is also available on this site.

Small Ensemble Bassoon,Cello,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575857 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Arranged by Colin Bayliss. 20th Century. Score and parts. 23 pages. David Warin Solomons #2028845. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.575857). This is from a suite of pieces written variously for recorder orchestra and for chamber orchestra The five movements are: 1 Meinau Rag 2 An Amble round Mercury 3 Pretty How Town 4 Landscape before sunrise 5 Little Laser Lady Each movement has its own story and reflects various places where the composer has lived or poems that have inspired him: Meinau Rag was written in honour of his 8 month stay in La Meinau, a suburb of Strasbourg, while teaching English at the nearby Hotellery School - it was one of several ragtimes, a style he experimented with on the guitar at that time. An Amble round Mercury refers to the pond and associated statue of Mercury in the centre of Tom Quad at his college, Christ Church Oxford. The ostinato theme is one that he has used on many pieces and was originally written to accompany a setting from the Book of Elijah - and in that day thou shalt say O Lord - in his college days. Pretty How Town, a perky and rhythmically complex piece, is based on the poem - anyone lived in a pretty how town by e.e.cummings. The more laid back Landscape before sunrise is based on a setting of many ways in which the world says Goodnight and is inspired by the view from the composer's 18th floor flat in Aldgate East overlooking a multicultural population. The rhythms of the original song Goodnight follow the phrases in each language: Good Night, buona notte, gute Nacht, kali nykhta, oyasumi nasai, nos da...etc Little Laser Lady, an upbeat end to the suite, is based on a poem by a friend of the composer, whose girlfriend (and wife to be) would always visit him in her Laser (a make of car in Australia) (She is the sun in the afternoon, she is the night's familiar, she comes on a beam of yellow gold light......) The orchestration is: Piccolo [except in the 4th movement], 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, Clarinet, Bassoon and string orchestra including double bass. The pdf file contains the score and separate parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview. Also available: all the scores together under the title Sweet 4 chamber orchestra.

Soul - Musical Creations #6362589. Published by Soul - Musical Creations (A0.948979). This piece (originally intitled) was transcribed by Oscar Chilesotti from a Sixteenth-century manuscript lute book. It is chosen here as a straightforward example of a common style of piece which was purely instrumental and unrelated to dance forms. The aim of the player is to bring out the contrapuntual (multiline) quality of the piece bycarefully sustaining tied and held notes for their value. It is important to recognize the original tune as it reoccurs in other voices. The Fantasia seems to sound well at a stately.
