Published by Jim Ivy (A0.981666). A traditional New Orleans tune arranged for brass quinted with an optional part for hand drum. The song is a certain crowd pleaser perfect for getting the audience on their feet and clapping along. The rhythm of the arrangement is a funky caribe beat known as a bamboula. A bamboula was a primitive drum that made its way to New Orleans via Haiti during the 18th century. Enslaved people would gather in Congo Square, next to the French Quarter and dance to the rhythm of the bamboula. The dances also became known as a bamboula. The infectious beat made its way into the music of the early New Orleans Jazz Bands. Even today, if you visit Congo Square in New Orleans, you often find groups of musicians and dancers enjoying the beat of the bamboula!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486801 By In Son Zeng. By In Son Zeng. Arranged by In Son Zeng. 20th Century,Instructional,Jazz. Score. 7 pages. In Son Zeng #1063868. Published by In Son Zeng (A0.1486801). Introduction of Op.3 No.10-12 by In Son Zeng:Op.3 No.1-12 is composed by In Son Zeng (from Macau) to cater to a variety of musical tastes and skill levels, offering a diverse range of experiences for the player.Op. 3 No. 10 How Beautiful the CountrysideThe tenth song in Op.3 uses an old country musical style. It depicts a gently flowing river, which does not create large ripples throughout the day, yet the surroundings are so beautiful that one cannot help but be captivated! The entire piece extensively designs two voice parts at the higher range. The upper voice often features non-legato triplets, while the left-hand employs a fixed rhythm common in country music, enhancing the picturesque scenery that the music evokes.Op. 3 No. 11 Charming New OrleansThe eleventh song is composed in a New Orleans jazz style that traces back to the origin of Jazz music! Being one of the ancestors of jazz, it poetically and lyrically reflects a refined lifestyle. This music is a great companion to the beauty of nature: listening to the relaxed, old-style jazz while strolling through a New Orleans park is truly invigorating! The entire piece is written in A-flat major and is divided into two short sections, both in an AA format (where the two sections are similar but differ in chord density). When practicing, it is important to prepare for an increase in intensity and atmosphere one measure before transitioning into the second section.Op. 3 No. 12 Summer SunThe twelfth song, in terms of jazz style, is a lively Boogie Woogie piece. Playing this music conjures images of people in bikinis dancing rhythmically on the beaches of Macedonia, surrounded by enthusiastic beach-loving tourists. The bustling crowd adds vibrant color to the hot summer beach. The entire piece is written in E-flat major and is also divided into two short sections in an AA format. During practice, there is a breathe and relax moment one measure before transitioning to the second section. It is important to play with a sense of relaxation at that point, followed by an augmented chord leading into the next section.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928983 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2019. A Cappella,Blues,Concert,Folk. Octavo. 5 pages. Donald A Mills #4853851. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928983). With an original introduction by this arranger, this melodic balled is sung here a cappella, unencumbered by instruments. Some of the chord structure is complex, but intuitive. Your audiences will surely love this beautiful song in this new arrangement for SATB.From Wikepedia:Historians have not been able to definitively identify The House Of The Rising Sun, but here are the two most popular theories:1) The song is about a gambling hall in New Orleans. The House Of The Rising Sun was named after Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means Rising Sun in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St.2) It's about a women's prison in New Orleans called the Orleans Parish women's prison, which had an entrance gate adorned with a rising sun artwork. The melody is a traditional English ballad, but the song became popular as an African-American folk song. It was recorded by Texas Alexander in the 1920s, then by a number of other artists including Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Josh White and later Nina Simone. It was her version The Animals first heard. No one can claim rights to the song, meaning it can be recorded and sold royalty-free. Many bands covered the song after it became a hit for The Animals.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.904092 Composed by Lowell Mason. Arranged by Adam Jensen. Blues,Christian,Jazz. Score and parts. 46 pages. Adam Jensen #35315. Published by Adam Jensen (A0.904092). The classic hymn Nearer, My God, to Thee is often used in solemn circumstances, most notably (at least according to rumor) during the sinking of the Titanic. The text, however, captures a balance between solemnity and celebration, suffering and mercy, death and new life. In adapting it for jazz big band, I found myself thinking about New Orleans jazz funeral parades, which also feature that same odd contradiction between grief and joy, through the use of the blues. I won't claim this is in any way authentic New Orleans jazz, but it does try to say some of the same things, and I hope you enjoy it. Written for standard jazz big band, with lots of room for open solos by the blues-inclined. Roughly 6 minutes, longer with additional solos.
