Brass Band Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1188967 By Pavilo Chubynsky, Mykhailo Verbytsky. By Pavilo Chubynsky, Mykhailo Verbytsky. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. 19th Century,Chamber,Historic,Patriotic. Score and Parts. 9 pages. Chicory Music #788580. Published by Chicory Music (A0.1188967). In 1992 the Ukrainian Parliament chose as the national anthem music composed in 1863 by Mykhailo Verbytsky, a western Ukrainian composer and Catholic priest. Verbytsky originally wrote the score as a solo song and later for orchestra to accompany a patriotic poem written in 1862 by Pavlo Chubynsky, a prominent ethnographer in the Kyiv region. In his poem Shche Ne Vmerla Ukrayina (which means Ukraine is not yet dead), Chubynsky expressed the mixture of hope and desperation felt by Ukrainians over their continuous struggle to rule their own land. Widely sung around the country as the Hymn to Ukraine, both the melody and lyrics were similar to those of Polish and Serbian anthems. In 1917 it became the anthem of the short-lived Ukrainian National Republic, but during the Soviet era it was replaced. Over time there were various changes and additions to Chubynsky's original words, resulting in several slightly differing versions of the Hymn to Ukraine. Following independence in 1991, many Ukrainians were disatisfied with the pessimistic tone, so the Ukrainian government made the Verbytsky score official but hesitated to approve the Chubynsky's lyrics. A comission sponsored contests for replacement lyrics, but none were decided on. Agreement finally came in 2003, when the Parliament passed and the President signed an act recognizing a slight change to the version of Chubynsky's lyrics that were usually sung. Only the first stanza and the refrain (which is sung twice) were approved in President Kuchma's official proclamation. This arrangement for Trombone Quintet, / Choir in the brass friendly key of d minor, is easily accessible to those students who play at the Adv. Intermediate Level. Performance Time: 1 minute 35 seconds

Alto Voice,Soprano voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1354327 By Steven Erekson. By Adolphe Charles Adam/Placide Cappeau. Arranged by Steven L. Erekson. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Sacred,Spiritual. 6 pages. Steven L. Erekson #939042. Published by Steven L. Erekson (A0.1354327). Written for 1 saprano and 2 altos, this arrangment of Oh Holy Night was written upon request of a family member who had difficulty finding an arrangement for 3 female vocalists. 4 days later and with a day to spare before they left for holidays, the request was happily filled and the result as you see it here. It features two of the 3 verses with a reference to the most important phrase found in the origional's third verse. The chord structures at some points differ from what is commonly associated with this carol and a number of key changes attempt to keep things in a suitable range and entertain the singers with added difficulty, but mostly enables a reverent capture of the attention of the audience. The third verse was not included in full to keep the piece to a suitable length for settings of worship. To my surprise, some church services at Christmas time leave me un-fed. I keep longing for the reverence that should be and would have been felt in the presence of the newborn of whom this song speaks. There is glory and rejoicing in the arrival of the Christ, yes; I do not wish to overlook this aspect of the season, but the greater emphasis that I intended to accompany this arrangement is that of the often-lacking submissive reverence embodied in the concluding phrase; behold your King. The best way to bring the best verision of this piece is to vary the tempo throughout to create more emotion and exagerate the dynamic markings. Begin the piece with awe and contained anticipation, increase in majesty to reflect the praise of angels and the glory of the Christ, then sing as though you enter the place where He rests as you lead your audience thereto. A voice recording is in the works.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1402418 Composed by Donald Ashwander. Ragtime. Score. 6 pages. The Donald Ashwander Estate #985636. Published by The Donald Ashwander Estate (A0.1402418). Step into the charming and contemplative world of Donald Ashwander's solo piano masterpiece, Old Streets. Composed with a delicate touch, Old Streets captures the essence of a bygone era, where the facades of weathered Southern houses bear witness to the passage of time. Ashwander's keen sense of tonal impressionism allows the notes to dance gracefully, mirroring the play of dappled sunlight filtering through the branches of ancient trees. The composition is an ode to the enduring charm of historical neighborhoods, where the echoes of laughter, whispers of secrets, and the timeless stories of yesteryears linger in the air.In the heart of Old Streets, one discovers the subtleties of an introspective ragtime composition. The rhythm, though rooted in the spirited tradition of ragtime, takes on a contemplative and ambulant quality, as if inviting the listener to meander through the memories embedded in each brick and cobblestone. One can almost envision the silhouette of the old houses, standing sentinel along the streets, whispering tales of days gone by. The harmonies, rich with emotion, evoke a sense of nostalgia, allowing the listener to immerse themselves in the profound beauty of the past.Old Streets serves as a poignant reminder that within the timeworn facades of history, there exists a melodic resonance that connects us to the stories of those who walked these old streets before us. So, take a stroll through the corridors of Old Streets, and let the music carry you to a place where the past and present harmonize in a timeless dance.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1264703 Composed by Ric Price. 20th Century,Classical,Instructional. Score. 5 pages. Richard J Price #857533. Published by Richard J Price (A0.1264703). Music NotesThis is a piece I wrote to shape some concepts for my first/second year pianostudent daughter. I had the idea while listening to her practice by brute force –meaning the keys are repeated hit continuously at same tempo, same strength – almost as a pounding exercise.  I thought nuance was not getting into her playing yet (as with most beginning students).   I wanted her to be aware of the musicality innate in a piece of music. Therefore, I loaded this piece up with all kinds of tempo changes, dynamics, etc. A little overkill, but printed music does suggest these things although it might not be written in.Concepts I was going for: Form: In this case a Rondo. Using classic ABACA. Key Relationships: C Major / A Minor. Sections B and C are in A minor, although written in key of C with the addition of sharps (leading tone G ♯). Hand Independence: Scales in one hand punctuated in the other. Scales: Scales found in both hands and the value of scales fingering in a real piece. Phrasing: How different notes are placed together to make a complete thought. Dynamics: Lots of changes written in there and how it relates to phrasing helping make the ‘complete thought.’ Articulation: Staccato vs Legato, voices opposing each other; again helping with the ‘complete thought.’ Tempo: That such a thing as flexible tempo helps with phrasing and completing that ‘complete thought’ we talked about. Pounding beat vs a larger beat: as interpretation such as dance (emphasizing the first beat instead of pounding by each beat. Notice by the tempo markings that a larger beat is called for by the markings (one beat per measure embracing the dance aspect.) Her former teacher is very talented, holds his Doctor's degree in Piano Performance and was absolutely terrific with her. That being said, Kara soon found out there were boys, and from that moment on the instructor never had a chance. She’s 38 now, loves to play this piece and still -- pounds it out. ☺.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1491758 By Keith Terrett. By Roy Williamson. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,World. 10 pages. Keith Terrett #1068437. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1491758). As of February 2024, the Scottish Government have not yet formally adopted an official national anthem of Scotland, despite having the legal competence in order to do so. ] During a meeting of the Enterprise and Culture Committee on 9 May 2006 in the Scottish Parliament, MSP Michael Matheson raised the question about the status of Scotland's national anthem, citing during the recent Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, there was some debate about a Scottish national anthem, largely because a number of songs were being used as our national anthem. However, in recent discussions on the matter, no consensus was reached, other than on the point that we should have a national anthem. At that time, there was suggestions that the incumbent First Minister of Scotland Jack McConnell had claimed that a debate on an official national anthem for Scotland should take place to address the issue.MSP Murdo Fraser expressed concerns over the three most popular candidates for an official national anthem of Scotland – Flower of Scotland, Scotland the Brave and Highland Cathedral. In his speech to the committee, he claimed Flower of Scotland is inappropriate because some of the sentiments that are expressed in it are jingoistic and anti-English; Scotland the Brave is inappropriate because, although it is a good tune, it does not have words that match the upbeat nature of the music; and Highland Cathedral is a good tune, but it has no words at all.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.752618 By AC/DC. By Angus Young, Brian Johnson, and Malcolm Young. Arranged by Dury Loveridge. Rock. Score and parts. 15 pages. Dury Loveridge #3570345. Published by Dury Loveridge (A0.752618). Ever-present towards the top of any top 100 rock or metal songs, and featured in a surprising number of films from The Muppets and the Smurfs to The Sopranos and Black Hawk Down, this has to be one of the most iconic riffs of all time. This is faithful to the original song in terms of structure and weighting given to the riff, and even includes a (slightly simplified) version of the guitar solo in the central section. There's plenty for every player here, and a lot of unison and paired playing too. Arranged by professional arranger and cellist Dury Loveridge.

Small Ensemble Cello,Electric Violin,Viola - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845980 By The Khromatiks. By Kayleigh Moyer, Kyle Pudenz, and The Khromatiks. Contemporary,Jazz,New Age,Rock. Score and parts. 25 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #5742365. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845980). This is a loop station composition for electric violin that I composed for my live-looping duo, The Khromatiks, in 2014. Doing my part to increase the available repertoire for extended range violins out here on the internet!I originally recorded this tune on a 7-string electric violin with a Boomerang III loop station. That being said, there are plenty of other gear configurations that will work. Any phrase looper/sampler that is capable of playing 2 separate tracks or sections with overdubs will be able to handle this structure, such as the Singular Sound Aeros, Boss RC-30, Ableton Live with a MIDI controller, etc. If you don't play 7-string, a 5-string can also play this chart as written if you transpose the bass stave up one octave and use an octave pedal for the pizzicato bass lines. A standard 4-string can also work, although most phrases will have to be transposed 8va.A little about this tune: there are 2 distinct sections. The first is a latin groove with a a highly syncopated chopping groove and a simple, soaring melodic head. This section can be opened up for a variety of solo ideas from jazz to Latin to funk, before it transitions using a common tone into the bridge, which is more of an epilogue. This section has much more of a heavy rock bent, with a thick stack of string overdubs that mimic an orchestra sitting over an overdriven rhythm groove, and a breakdown where aggressive drum fills are accompanied by rhythmic chugging in the violin. Finally, all of these ideas culminate as the A section melody is re-introduced over the rock groove, building to an ultimate climax. With The Khromatiks this piece was performed as a duo with violin & drums/percussion, but also works as a violin solo. I usually add additional percussive loops when I perform this solo.I have also included three auxiliary string parts, which can be used to perform this piece with a string section or an orchestra. The parts line up with the second section of the tune and replace some of the loops with live parts. You can see an example of this arrangement in the following video: https://youtu.be/IO30qF2WlR8?t=230The sky is the limit for electric violinists, so feel free to get creative with this chart and make it your own! Please, if you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/, or on Instagram @theviolinvagabond

Trumpet Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.829065 Composed by Eric Bolvin. Arranged by Eric Bolvin. Instructional. Individual part. 64 pages. ERIC V BOLVIN #3578777. Published by ERIC V BOLVIN (A0.829065). Tongue Level & Air is a 26 lesson course that starts easy and helps you improve your sound, range, control and endurance. All players at all levels can benefit from this book, including beginners. Check out our FREE lessons and videos below.Efficient trumpet playing is a balance between three elements; air, tongue level, and embouchure. This balance cannot be explained in scientific terms, therefore it must be accomplished by feel through proper practice. The purpose of Tongue Level & Air is to provide trumpet players with a course of study which will enable them to find their balance and become more efficient in their playing.Trying to describe the balance with statements such as The balance is 1/3 air, 1/3 tongue level, and 1/3 embouchure is pointless. The balance is in a constant state of flux, changing from day to day, gig to gig, and note to note. Your balance can change when you change instruments, when the playing environment is unfamiliar, when you are sick or tired, or for many other reasons. It is best not to over analyze your balance, but to develop it naturally over time and by feel. You will discover early in your study of these materials and after viewing the videos below  that we have plenty of air to play the trumpet. The secret to efficiency lies in the control of that great reserve of air power. When doing the breathing exercises in Lessons 1-3 Part 3, don’t hold back the first time through. On the repeat control the air and go for the musical result.

Full Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008375 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 20th Century. Score and parts. 39 pages. Arkady Leytush #4885449. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1008375). Estampes (Engravings) is the title of the triptych of three pieces which Debussy put together in 1903. The first complete performance was given on 9 January 1904 in the Salle Erard, Paris, by the young Spanish pianist Ricardo Viñes, who was already emerging as the prime interpreter of the new French music of Debussy and Ravel. The first two pieces were completed in 1903, but the third derives from an earlier group of pieces from 1894, collectively titled Images, which remained unpublished until 60 years after Debussy’s death, when they were printed as Images (oubliées). Estampes marks an expansion of Debussy’s keyboard style: he was apparently spurred to fuse neo-Lisztian technique with a sensitive, impressionistic pictorial impulse under the impact of discovering Ravel’s Jeux d’eau, published in 1902. The opening movement, ‘Pagodes’, is Debussy’s first pianistic evocation of the Orient and is essentially a fixed contemplation of its object, as in a Chinese print. This static impression is partly caused by Debussy’s use of long pedal-points, partly by his almost constant preoccupation with pentatonic melodies which subvert the sense of harmonic movement. He uses such pentatonic fragments in many different ways: in delicate arabesques, in two-part counterpoint, in canon, harmonized in fourths and fifths and as an underpinning for pattering, gamelan-like ostinato writing. Altogether the piece reflects the decisive impression made on him by hearing Javanese and Cambodian musicians at the 1889 Paris Exposition, which he had striven for years to incorporate effectively in music. In its final bars the music begins to dissolve into elaborate filigree.Just as ‘Pagodes’ was his first Oriental piece, so ‘La soirée dans Grenade’ was the first of Debussy’s evocations of Spain-that preternatural embodiment of an ‘imaginary Andalusia’ which would inspire Manuel de Falla, the native Spaniard, to go back to his country and create a true modern Spanish music based on Debussyan principles. Debussy’s personal acquaintance with Spain was virtually non-existent (he had spent a day just over the border at San Sebastian) and it is possible that one model for the piece was Ravel’s Habanera. Yet he wrote of this piece (to his friend Pierre Louÿs, to whom it was dedicated), ‘if this isn’t the music they play in Granada, so much the worse for Granada!’-and there is no debate about the absolute authenticity of Debussy’s use of Spanish idioms here. Falla himself pronounced it ‘characteristically Spanish in every detail’. ‘La soirée dans Grenade’ is founded on an ostinato that echoes the rhythm of the habanera and is present almost throughout. Beginning and ending in almost complete silence, this dark nocturne of warm summer nights builds powerfully to its climaxes. The melodic material ranges from a doleful Moorish chant with a distinctly oriental character to a stamping, vivacious dance-measure, taking in brief suggestions of guitar strumming and perfumed Impressionist haze. There is even a hint of castanets near the end. The piece fades out in a coda that seems to distil all the melancholy of the Moorish theme and a last few distant chords of the guitar. â€˜Jardins sous la pluie’ is based on the children’s song ‘Nous n’rons plus au bois’ (We shan’t go to the woods): its original 1894 form was in fact entitled Quelques aspects de ‘Nous n’rons plus au bois’. The two versions are really two distinct treatments of the same set of ideas, but in ‘Jardins sous la pluie’ Estampes the earlier piece has been entirely rethought. The whole conception is more impressionistic, and subtilized. The teeming semiquaver motion is more all-pervasive, the tunes (for Debussy has added a second children’s song for treatment, ‘Do, do, l’enfant do’) more elusive and tinged sometimes with melancholy or nostalgia. The ending of the piece is entirely new. What it loses, perha.
