The piece opens with a strong rhythmic figure played by the entire band based on quartal harmony. Then the main melody enters in a soli passage for the saxes. Ist trumpet must be able to hit a Bb above the staff on this one. Room for solos is provided. It would make a great addition to any program. After teaching music in the PA public schools for over thirty years I found that there were never enough good quality, accessible arrangements available. Hopefully this piece will help remedy that situation. This is an original arrangement for a jazz/swing band with standard instrumentation (5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm section).See all of my arrangements here

Written in ABA form it opens with a lilting melody against a contrapuntal part. The B section is much more flowing and dynamically softer in the relative minor key. Here are compositions from the 19th Century – the Romantic Era – transcribed for the Low G ukulele. Julián Arcas (1832-1882) was a Spanish classical guitarist and composer. He was born in Almería and died in Antequera, Spain. Arcas performed all over Europe from 1860 through 1880 where a young Francisco Tárrega listened to him in 1862 in Castellón and played for him after the performance. Arcas then invited Tárrega to study with him in Barcelona. Arcas wrote fifty-two original works and transcribed thirty pieces for the guitar, including waltzes, variations, preludes, and dances. Through the work of the guitar maker Antonio de Torres, Arcas influenced the development of the classical guitar, particularly concerning the design of the soundboard. These pieces are somewhat more complex and are for intermediate to advanced players. Have fun!
