Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1149435). When God Puts Out The Light is a piano solo arrangement of the 1901 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond. The original piece was a ballad setting, for voice and piano, of the composers own sacred lyrics. I begin much as the composer did with full ballad chords which were the style at the turn of the century; then I create a contrasting middle section which is more lyrical with a single note melody and a flowing broken chord accompaniment; then conclude with a section of richer chords with hints of early jazz harmony.
