Huw Watkin's Minatures for viola and piano were written for violist Simon Rowland-Jones and first performed at the North Norfolk Music Festival in 2009. There are eight short movements. The first has the viola playing short, sometimes angular, sometimes lyrical fragments over simple, slow-moving harmonies on the piano. The fourth and the seventh movements are variations on the first. In between are highly contrasted miniatures: number two is fast and impassioned, while number three is slow and contemplative. The fifth miniature has the viola playing rapid semiquavers over insistent repeated notes in the piano, while the final movement is very slow and serene. (Huw Watkins).

The Dream of the Rood by the poet Caedmon is one of the earliest English-language Christian poems. This work sets to music stanzas from the poem selected & translated by (and used with the permission of) Fr. Charles Boyd. Effectively a short Mystery Play, it is a dialogue between a chorus and the Rood, voicing its feelings at bearing Christ and being a necessary part of the salvation of the world. Originally is written for mezzosoprano, and I kept the original key in this arrangement for SSA, female ensemble (choir or trio), with piano accompaniment and clarinet, optional in 2nd verse. Piano part is simplified according to original. The melody in vocal parts and piano is the same in both verses (except last few bars). Chega de Saudade (Brazilian Portuguese: ['ʃega dÊ’i saw'dadÊ’i]) (published English version is No More Blues) is a bossa nova jazz standard. It is often considered to be the first recorded bossa nova song. The music was composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and the lyrics were written by Vinícius de Moraes. João Gilberto's recording is the most famous.The song was first recorded in 1957 by Brazilian singer Elizete Cardoso and released on her 1958 album entitled Canção Do Amor Demais; however, the public took little notice of her release. João Gilberto included the second recorded version of the track in 1958. Released as a single, the song became a hit and would solidify bossa nova as a permanent genre in the Latin music lexicon. The song also appeared on Gilberto's first album Chega De Saudade.The title can be translated roughly as enough longing, though the Portuguese word, saudade, carries with it a far more complex meaning. The word implies an intensity of heartfelt connection that is yearned for passionately, not unlike feeling withdrawal symptoms from a drug that makes one feel good. Another good analogy might be an intense homesickness. Chega, in this case, means no more, enough.The song form is 64 measures. It is equally split between 32 measures in a minor key and the 32 measures in a major key.
