Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899869 Composed by John Stafford Smith (1750-1836), Francis Scott Key (1779-1843). Arranged by Alexander L Burden (b.1989). Graduation,Holiday,Patriotic. Score and parts. 4 pages. Alexander Burden #3573183. Published by Alexander Burden (A0.899869). 2018 Instrumental Arranging Contest EntryGenre: National Anthem, PatrioticLength: 1:20Instrumentation: Alto Saxophone and EuphoniumThe Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from Defence of Fort M'Henry, a poem written on September 14, 1814, by the then 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory. The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith and renamed The Star-Spangled Banner. With a range of 19 semitones, it is known for being very difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today. This fun and accessible arrangement is perfect for sporting events, school and corporate functions, parades, private events and any other occasion that calls for use of the Star-Spangled Banner! The Arranger:Email: alburden9012@eagle.fgcu.eduAlexander Burden is a Florida born, professional musician and music educator residing in Southwest Florida. Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835645 Composed by George F. Handel, Felix Mendelssohn. Arranged by Renee Hyche McKee. Christian,Christmas,Concert,World. Score and parts. 11 pages. Renee H. McKee #6189565. Published by Renee H. McKee (A0.835645). A crowd pleaser! In this rhythmic toe-tapper both Joy to the World! and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing are given time in the spotlight and are also mashed into action together. Secondo’s opening first four notes of Joy to the World! are answered by the first phrase of Primo’s lively, syncopated Hark! the Herald Angels Sing. A compelling rhythmic drive (lucky Secondo player) pushes the piece into high gear while Joy to the World shines, then the syncopation dissolves into a Primo-frosted Hark! the Herald Angels Sing while Secondo brings its melody forward in a new key. Before you know it, the two songs swing back together and close out the piece with a spirited syncopated flair. Fingerings are added to help facilitate reading but are merely suggestions. Pedaling is to be used at the performers’ discretion. This piece is great for any Christmas event in churches, civic gatherings, or recitals. It is an exciting way to open or close a Holiday program!

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.723039 Composed by Cesar Antonovich Cui. Arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP). Romantic Period. Score and parts. 65 pages. Joel Jacklich #2063667. Published by Joel Jacklich (A0.723039). This is a patriotic Russian (Czarist) piece written in 1915. It describes the Imperial Russian naval vessel Slava (Glory) on patrol. While supposedly written for military wind orchestra, no known copy for band exists. The only copy is a version arranged for piano four-hands by Konstantin Chernov in the Russian State Library. Slava is a programmatic work that starts with a patriotic hymn, a bugle call to duty, on patrol, a bugle call to quarters, dangerous seas, a bugle call to secure from quarters, and a triumphant return to Mother Russia. This arrangement was made at the request of Mitch Sturman, director of the Wilson Junior High School Warrior Band in El Centro, CA. It was premiered on May 16, 2014, at Wilson Jr. H.S. by the Imperial High School Tiger Band, Brooke Kofford directing. The work is moderately difficult, mainly because of the use of double flats.

Published by Bethan Clark (A0.1028157). Aileen Wuornos had been dead for a year when Nick Broomfield released his documentary Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer. The film followed the final months of her life, up to her execution for the murder of seven men. The last interview between Broomfield and Wuornos, filmed the night before her execution, stopped me in my tracks and left me in no doubt that it would form the basis of my next composition. Even though she knew that this was to be her last night on earth, Wuornos' voice was remarkably rhythmic and melodic, and her use of language arresting in its blend of reality and fantasy. However, her thought processes were so skewed and her patience worn so thin that it would require subtle and empathetic interviewing to elicit a meaningful valediction....
