James Haynor has arranged three short liturgical works by Thomas Tallis for Trombone Quartet. Tallis was the first English composer to set English words to music for the Church.

Number 1. is his most famous anthem, written in English as decreed by King Henry VI.

Number 2, also an anthem, but to be used during the Anglican communion service.

Number 3, Gloria Patri is a Doxology or short hymn of praise to God used by Catholics and high Anglicans.

These three short works total about 3 1/2 minutes in length.

The music is appropriate for moderately advanced performers, the first player should have a good high C (the first part is in tenor clef).

Ragtime music, traditionally played primarily on the piano, is a genre which enjoyed popularity in the early 20th century. It is characterised by a syncopated, or ragged rhythm in the melody, played over a steady bassline. Ragtime was preceded by its close relative, the cakewalk ­ – a similarly syncopated dance.

This collection presents five such pieces arranged for ukulele and bass ­ some well-known, and some less so. The ukulele and bass parts are shown on opposite pages of each double­ page spread of this collection, allowing the musicians to play from the same music stand, and for the student to easily cross­-reference the two parts.

The Night Paddy Murphy Died is a popular Newfoundland folk song regarding the death of a man and the antics of his friends as they engage in a traditional Irish wake. It is often attributed to Johnny Burke (1851–1930), a popular St. John's balladeer. One of the earliest known recordings of the song is by Irish-American immigrants, the Flanagan Brothers, on October 25, 1926 in New York City for the Victor label.
