Debussy was inspired to write this  movement from the poem Fêtes galantes by Paul Verlaine. The Suite has been transcribed for every imaginable instrumentation and is one of the composer's most playable works from a technical standpoint. This lovely 3-minute arrangement for Tuba or Bass Trombone by Ralph Sauer is appropriate for moderately advanced performers.

Here is an excellent description of Talisman for Horn and Piano by the composer, David Evan Thomas: Talisman, is a buoyant and songful recital piece for horn and piano. A talisman is an object, such as an amulet, a bowl, or even a symbol, held to act as a charm to avert evil and bring good fortune. This Talisman is a sonic charm, a brief recital piece that captures the essence of the Maine lakes and woods, evoking in song a sense of the rustic and the legendary. It was commissioned by Minneapolis resident Holly Windle in tribute to her mother, Jan, who played the horn as an adolescent. The premiere was given by Charles Hodgson, horn, and the composer in Saint Paul, Minnesota on November 11, 2021, heard below in this fine live performance. It is appropriate for advanced intermediate performers and is about 4 minutes in length.

Opus 33 was inspired by a trip to Bayreuth, the musical home of Wagner and the Black Forest region.  Opus 33 no. 1 from 1889 is titled ? with no explanation of itself. Opus 33 no. 10 is titled Lermoos, which is a delightful skiing village in Austria right on the border with Germany.  Germany's largest mountain is in perfect view, possibly giving the movement its spirit. Opus 28 is a Serenade for Violin and Piano published in 1900.  It is lithe, subtle and lyrical.

Motet Komm, Jesus, komm, BWV 229, for double choir, was most likely composed for a funeral written in Leipzig and first performed in 1731-32. It's biblical text was written as a poem by Paul Thymich. Mr. Sauer has done a magnificent job transcribing all six of Bach's choral motets BWV 225-230 for 8-part Trombone Ensemble. This is a major undertaking. All are very worthy additions to the Trombone Ensemble repertoire. This work for 8-part Trombone ensemble is in two movements and about 7 1/2 minutes in length. This music is appropriate for advanced performers. The top two voices have parts supplied in both alto and tenor clef.

The introductory first movement recalling the ritornello form is followed by a quiet, slow movement. The recurring tone repetitions lend the third movement the character of a fanfare.Petrich studied composition with Pulitzer prizewinning composer Leo Sowerby and under Ernst Pepping in Berlin.The Sonatina was recorded by trumpeter Paul Neebe and organist Ulrich Knoerr in 2003. The CD is titled Te Deum under the label MDG.The 10 minute long work is appropriate for moderately advanced performers.
