Jazz pianist-composer Mark Massey was born and raised in Lynwood, California, where he showed early talent on piano, trombone, and drums. During high school, he studied classical piano and played in the bands Synopsis (with future trumpet giant Wayne Bergeron), and Sabor (with Poncho Sanchez and the Banda Brothers). Mark played in the Pico Rivera Stage Band, which won First Place at the Hollywood Bowl Battle of the Bands. This is a Bb lead sheet (including original flute and piano lines, transposed for Bb instruments) for Que Garota Linda. It's a high energy, very exciting, Brazilian-Latin style instrumental from pianist Mark Massey's breakthrough jazz LP: API: Acoustic Piano International. The piano and flute interact, with the flute (performed by guest flutist Justo Almario) and piano trading sections of the main melody, and then providing dynamic background hooks and counterpoint. (These piano-flute lines are transposed here for Bb instruments. The tune is a great vehicle for musical interplay, jazz improvisation, and high energy rhythm section playing. This arrangement of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen for String Quartet can also be performed with a String Trio, since the 2nd Violin part is optional. Your listeners will love this toe-tapping tune, so much so that you might get an air-guitarist joining you on the side!

While the 1st Violin gets most of the melody on this, there is a pretty sweet Viola solo part, so your violist can channel their inner Brian May.  2nd Violin has some counterpoint, and Cello has a smooth walking bass line.  And everybody swings!  

One thing that sets my arrangements apart from others is that I fit all of my parts on 2 sheets of music.  This makes it so the songs can fit into a binder, without the need for flipping pages!

Another great thing is that I include cue lines on each part, so that every player in the ensemble can see one other person’s music at the same time.  This is so amazingly useful and has saved countless performances in the past.  If someone skips a beat or misses a measure, you can now see where they are and reconnect! This also helps with sight-reading and keeping the group together in general.

One of Queen's most beloved classic songs, Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written in 1979 as a tribute to Elvis Presley -- and the song's rockabilly groove, doo-wop feel, and blues-inspired bass definitely make that clear! This Cellobat version for solo cello was originally written for a wedding ceremony, but it will also be perfect for receptions, vow renewals, cocktail parties, solo & ensemble contests or any other occasion you need to get your audience dancing! Featuring the catchy lyrical melody, funky rhythmic grooves, and even the guitar solo of the original, this arrangement is just as much fun to play as it is to listen to. No accompaniment part -- it stands alone, or can be played with a backing track for solo gigs. This chart is rated advanced; there are some syncopated rhythms, triplets, and accidentals that might require running through before performing.
