It is the 11th best selling single of all time, and often regarded as one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon. The Phil Spector style, 1960s sound has helped the song become a perennial Christmas favorite.

There is an optional vocal solo part which can be performed by your bands very own pop diva. However, please note that this arrangement is a semitone higher than the original key to make give the brass instruments an easier key signature and range.

Columbia Records released it on November 1, 1994, as the lead single from her fourth studio album and first holiday album, Merry Christmas (1994). The track is an uptempo love song. It is also considered the best-selling modern day Christmas song. Carey also re-recorded the song as a duet with Canadian singer Justin Bieber for his 2011 album Under the Mistletoe, titled All I Want for Christmas for You (SuperFestive!).
