Choral Choir,Choral (SAT) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1290977 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Advent,Christian,Christmas. 12 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #881667. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1290977). This is a lively arrangement based on the traditional text. It's an English Christmas carol, which dates back at least to the 17th century. The reference to three ships is thought to originate in the those that carried the purported relics of the Biblical magi to Cologne Cathedral in the 12th century. The joyful main theme is in 7/8 time and divides into 2+2+3. This is easier than it sounds because much of the piece consists of  four measures of 7/8 followed by a measure of 4/4. Singers will soon get to feel the rhythm and become familiar with this time signature. It’s scored for a fairly experienced SAT choir with keyboard accompaniment. The SAT voicing is ideal for high school or college use, where bass voices may not be available. In the reflective middle section, there are opportunities for solos, though they are optional. Audiences and singers alike are sure to enjoy this joyful music. The keyboard part is fairly straightforward though requires a competent pianist. It would be a great addition to your Christmas concert or service. (Duration: 02:50)Voice ranges are well within normal high school range: Soprano C4-F5; Alto A3-D5; Tenor C3-D4. If you like this choral piece, you might also be interested in two of the other Colin Kirkpatrick Nativity Anthems in this SAT series (also available as SSA): And a Star is Shining in the East and Three Kings from Eastern Lands.  Both titles are available from the same publisher.

Paul Cowell #2965525. Published by Paul Cowell (A0.837145). This is the 'simple' sonata by Mozart (No 16 in C) arranged as a concerto using the additional accompaniment that Grieg wrote in 1876. The piano part is just as Mozart wrote it, so is well within the ability of most competent pianists. The orchestra is small to balance with the small range and clear textures of Mozart’s sonata (single winds, two horns, trumpet, trombone, timpani, percussion and strings). The parts should be playable by advanced school and amateur orchestras; some alternatives for high string passages are given.Score onlyThree movements: Allegro, Andante, Allegretto grazioso. Duration: around 12 min.

Brass Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.820034 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Kathy Hirche. Baroque,Standards. Score and parts. 78 pages. Kathy Hirche #5043847. Published by Kathy Hirche (A0.820034). The Four Seasons is generally considered to be Vivaldi’s most famous work. It is a set of four concerti for Violin, each of the four representing one of the four seasons. A performance of the entire original set would take at least 40 minutes. This version is a collection of the main themes presented as a short suite and takes approximately 5 minutes to perform. Alternatively, each of the movements may be performed as a separate piece. The aim of this arrangement was to give Early Intermediate Level Woodwind and/or Brass players an opportunity to perform what is undoubtedly one of the most well-known pieces of Baroque string repertoire. The instrumentation is flexible, allowing for many different combinations of instruments, including Clarinet Trio/ Ensemble, Saxophone Trio/Ensemble, Brass Trio/Ensemble and even Concert Band. The Solo at the start of the 4th Movement (Winter) is an opportunity to feature a Part 1 player who is more advanced. The inclusion of this short section is entirely optional. Part 4 is optional and can be used to include a Tuba and/or less competent players of Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and F Horn. The inclusion of a Tuba is preferable in the case of a large brass ensemble. The inclusion of a Bass Clarinet (Part 3 or 4) is preferable in a large clarinet ensemble. The score is shown in concert pitch. Octave displacement occurs in some parts. Parts 2, 3 and 4 are kept below the break for the Clarinet and/or Bass Clarinet players.  Parts in this set: Part 1 (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet); Part 2 (Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Trumpet, F Horn); Part 3 (Clarinet / Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trombone/Euphonium/Bassoon); Optional Part 4 (Tuba, Clarinet / Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, F Horn); Optional Glockenspiel, Optional Cymbal & Triangle & Tambourine (2 players); Optional Snare Drum & Bass Drum (2 players).

Small Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956662 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 127 pages. C Melville-Mason #6735335. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956662). This is an arrangement of Mendelssohn’s overture The Hebrides (Fingal’s Cave), intended for a medium-sized woodwind group of perhaps 20 – 30 players.  It has been categorised as ‘advanced’, as the length and tempo of the work make it quite challenging.  However, provided the main parts are covered by competent players, those with less experience can either double, judiciously omitting any problem sections, or opt for the appropriate ‘easier’ add-on part. This is great fun to attempt, even if your ensemble may not manage it up to performance standard! The piece is scored for the following instrumentation: Essential Parts: Part 1: Flute Part 2: Flute Part 3: Oboe Part 4: Clarinet in B-flat Part 5: Clarinet in B-flat (contains essential divisi, so minimum of 2 players essential) Part 6: Clarinet in B-flat Part 7: Clarinet in B-flat  OR          Part 7: Alto Saxophone Part 8: Alto Saxophone Part 9: Alto Saxophone Part 10: Bassoon              OR          Part 10: Bass Clarinet in B-flat (low C instrument essential)   Optional add-ons:   Easier Flute/Oboe Low Clarinet in B-flat Easier Alto Saxophone Easier Tenor Saxophone Mini-Bassoon in F (an extra, NOT an easy, part) Easier Bassoon   Mendelssohn visited Scotland in 1829 and, after a tour of the Highlands, travelled by steamer from Fort William to Oban and thence to the Hebridean island of Mull.  From there, he made the short boat trip to the small island of Staffa, to visit Fingal’s Cave – a sea cave formed of hexagonal basalt columns, with a highly intriguing natural acoustic. The Hebrides overture was inspired by this segment of Mendelssohn’s Scottish travels.  The work is an early example of a tone poem: a musical representation of the scenery, wind and weather of the Scottish Hebridean islands, reflecting their sudden and infinite changeability. After some revisions, the overture received its first performance in May 1832 and remains a favourite with audiences to this day.  It has been central in establishing – and sustaining – the popularity of Fingal’s Cave as a tourist destination. This arrangement was originally created for a woodwind course held on another Scottish island – Skye, which is the largest and most northerly of the Inner Hebrides.
