Dance music in general, but especially the disco, is a palce of belonging, empowerment and celebration for the marginalized, and can indeed 'cure your lonely heart'. It is also slightly tongue in cheek in its use of 1970s disco gestures in a bombastic, super-gay and double-coded way.This TTBB arrangement is suitable for many groups and designed asa show opener, with an opening fanfare. Go Tell It on The Mountain is most often considered a Christmas Carol with the original lyrics,Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.Nothing is known of its origins, but it first appeared in print in an 1865 collection of Spirituals. More recently, the lyrics have been adapted to support the struggle for human rights, most famously by Peter, Paul and Mary in 1963. Go Tell It on The Mountain is simply arranged in keys and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is played twice in swing style after a brief introduction; after a short breakdown the key changes and the melody is repeated at a slower tempo.
