Published by Piacere Music Sheets (A0.1102804). Opus/Catalog Number: BWV Anh.114 Key/Tone: G Major Year/Date of Composition: 1725 or before, in 1725-40 added in Notebooks for Anna Magdalena Bach (No.4) Difficulty: Grade 3/12 (Easy) Obs.: Although this piece has traditionnally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, recent research has shown that is was rather composer by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. This minuet has a simple A-A-B-B musical form. The quarter note rests in measures 25-26 are editorial, as they do not appear in the original sources, and this score contains suggestions for realizing the ornaments in accordance with Baroque performance practice. During the Baroque period, musicians customarily played menuets in pairs: a first menuet, followed immediately by a second menuet, and then the first menuet played again without repeats. This menuet can thus be followed immediately by Menuet in G minor, BWV Anhang 115 (also by Petzold), after which it may be played again without repeats.
