The old Irish tune Slane is known to most as Be Thou My Vision or Lord of All Hopefulness, and is found in many hymnals around the world.  This setting starts with a somber setting of the hymn tune and then follows with a Celtic-inspired treatment, ending the work in joyful fashion!  It was written and performed on a two-manual instrument, and the tune is clearly stated throughout.  I hope you enjoy it!

The Welsh tune Llwyn Onn is known to most as the hymn tune Ash Grove.  The most popular texts include Let all things now living and Sent forth by God's blessing, and is heard throughout the church year.  It is often used for Thanksgiving services as well.  This gentle setting was written and recorded on a two manual instrument, using interwoven lines which will give you the chance for some varied solo voices.  I hope you enjoy playing it!

The Welsh tune Ar Hyd Y Nos is a well known tune, and sung to a wide variety of texts, with the most popular being the secular All Through the Night.  In our hymnal, two of the three texts are God, that madest earth and heaven and Go, my children, with my blessing.  Episode 1 is based on God, that madest earth and heaven, and is a peaceful, meditative setting.  Since Go, my children, with my blessing is normally sung at the end of the service, Episode 2 is set as a postlude, which can immediately follow the hymn.  Both movements were written and recorded on a two manual instrument, and I hope both can add to your worship service!

This work is based on the hymn tune Picardy, usually known by the text Let all mortal flesh keep silence.  This work was composed with the younger, less experienced trombonist in mind.  The range is limited and rhythms are easy, well within reach of a normal middle school trombonist.  The trombone solo part is included, as is a Treble Clef part for either Baritone T.C. or Trumpet.  This would be perfect as an offertory, a somber prelude, or as special music.  The complete 2021 Suite is available on this site, and each movement is also available separately.
