These two somber meditations, 1. Darkness and 2. Prayer, are based on the hymn tune Gethsemane, with the usual text being Go to Dark Gethsemane.  These short meditations can be played together or at separate moments, and will add a reflective moment to your Lent or Holy Week worship or recital.  The first movement Darkness is more introspective, while Prayer, the second movement, is more hopeful.  Both were composed and recorded on a two manual instrument.

This prelude is based on the very well-known hymn tune of Hyfrydol, which is known by many different texts.  Some texts are Love divine, all loves excelling, Come, thou long expected Jesus, and Alleluia, sing to Jesus, among many others.  This prelude can work in a variety of fashions, whether at a faster tempo and louder registration, or at a slower pace with softer stops. The recording here has both settings, the first loud, and the scond soft.   Be creative!  It was written and recorded on a two manual instrument.  I hope it can add beauty to your services as a prelude, offertory, or communion music.

The Welsh tune Llwyn Onn is known to most as the hymn tune Ash Grove.  The most popular texts include Let all things now living and Sent forth by God's blessing, and is heard throughout the church year.  It is often used for Thanksgiving services as well.  This gentle setting was written and recorded on a two manual instrument, using interwoven lines which will give you the chance for some varied solo voices.  I hope you enjoy playing it!

The hymn tune Winchester New is popular in both Advent and Holy Week.  In Advent it is usually known by the text On Jordan's Bank the Baptist's Cry, and during Holy Week it is known by Ride On! Ride On in Majesty!.  This festive announcement will work in either season, and could serve as a fanfare/prelude or as a regal hymn introduction.  One ending is a final ending for a prelude, while a second ending will lead you into the normal key of the hymn.  I hope it adds a joyous atmosphere to your services!

The Welsh tune Ar Hyd Y Nos is a well known tune, and sung to a wide variety of texts, with the most popular being the secular All Through the Night.  In our hymnal, two of the three texts are God, that madest earth and heaven and Go, my children, with my blessing.  Episode 1 is based on God, that madest earth and heaven, and is a peaceful, meditative setting.  Since Go, my children, with my blessing is normally sung at the end of the service, Episode 2 is set as a postlude, which can immediately follow the hymn.  Both movements were written and recorded on a two manual instrument, and I hope both can add to your worship service!
