Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1380761 Composed by Jason V. Barabba. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Opera. Score. 14 pages. Barabba Music #965547. Published by Barabba Music (A0.1380761). This piece was a birthday gift for my father, who has written several books about business. I chose to include texts from Russell Ackoff and Abraham Maslow, authors who have influenced dad’s work. In the process of working on this piece, it became clear to me, that there is an enormous amount of “philosophy†in the study of business that overlaps with an improved understanding of the bigger issues of life. I have always admired my father’s direct approach to the world, and hope to someday live up to Maslow’s “Acceptance of the Mysteries of Life†as well as he has. Brass Ensemble Trumpet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1079739 Composed by Eddie Lewis. Classical,Instructional,Sacred. Score and parts. 6 pages. Tiger Music #683926. Published by Tiger Music (A0.1079739). I have said this in the description for other pieces, but it’s worth mentioning again. I believe that trumpet students should begin performing from the start of their careers. The problem with this belief is that there isn’t much good music written for the beginners to perform. Most of what is published is “dumbed down†and doesn’t sound like real music. I have been trying to fill that cap by composing pieces for the beginners that I would be proud to perform in public. My objective with these compositions is to write music that sounds like real music, but functions within the limitations of the beginners’ trumpet skills. My first compositions of this nature were the three bird solos, Bird March, Feathered Friends and The Purple Parrot (which I let my then current students name). One of those students performed the Bird March solo at a school assembly only three or four months after she started playing the trumpet. That student eventually quit trumpet to pursue a busy performance career in theater (she was an elementary school student) but performing the Bird March for her fellow students is a memory she will always fondly look back on. That is part of why performing early in the learning process is so important. You don’t know when students will continue, and which ones will not. For those students whose trumpet careers end up being no longer than a year, the one or two performances they have in that year are all they will have to look back on. Unfortunately, those who do not perform at all will only ever remember the drudgery of pointless practice and rehearsals. But there’s more to my early performance philosophy than just that. For those students who do continue their trumpet careers for many years, the earlier performances have a mental benefit that cannot be replaced in any other way. Their future progress on the trumpet is greatly enhanced by each performance they present in the first two years of their trumpet careers.

Alto Saxophone,Piano,Vibraphone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486080 Composed by Mark Rimple. Chamber,Contemporary,Jazz. 45 pages. Mark Rimple (Nuova Corda Music) #1063138. Published by Mark Rimple (Nuova Corda Music) (A0.1486080). A trio for alto saxophone, vibraphone and piano, Hermes in Retrograde was written for and premiered by Marshall Taylor, Christopher Hanning, and Sam Hsu.  The soundworld is influenced by 50s Jazz and the metrical world of the piece comes from my interests in the music of the ars subtilior, which I was peforming quite a lot of at that time.  The titles of the work are heavily influenced by my readings in Hermetic philosophy, especially the studies by Frances Yates.  If anything, this work is a synchretic mashup of a cool jazz aesthetic that never was and a world of ideas that doesn't truly exist, creating a surreal landscape.Parts for the sax and vibes are included.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q42466 Pentatonic. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Orff-Schulwerk - Rhythmusübungen - Kinderreime. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 1. Schott Music - Digital #Q42466. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q42466). English.Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Editions have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers. Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage. Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored. Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of involving their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education. A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English. At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Murray Edition English adaption, with additional material, by Margaret Murray. Besed on, and containing all the rhythmic and instrumental material from the main five volumes of the original German edition. Contents of this first volume: speech and rhythmic exercises, nursery rhymes, songs, instrumental pieces and melodic exercises using only the five note scale, with instructions and notes. Illustrated.

Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBW229). 9 x 12 inches.Stronger……..Every Day is actually the motto of the rehabilitation center I attend twice a week for physical therapy. Their philosophy is simple: it's not the amount of progress you make each day, it's the total sum of all the small steps taken. Setting goals and perseverance is what is important. The idea is actually universal: Take things one day at a time, stay consistent and you will meet your goals. It applies perfectly to playing a musical instrument. You practice each day, repeat exercises until they are mastered, and then move forward. This piece is built upon a repeated eight-bar motif. In between these motifs are symphonic excursions, but always returning to the original motif. This represents the concept of practicing through repetition. The excursions are the new goals. Multiple syncopation and dynamics keep the music interesting for both the player and listener.

Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.31086EB). ISBN 9781513477787. 8.75X11.75 inches. We all have experienced devotion at varying levels of intensity within our lives. Sometimes it is temporary, but in other cases it is lasting and perhaps even permanent. Devotion can be directed toward an idea, a purpose, plan, pet or person, a concept, a sport or hobby, a philosophy, or a feeling or relationship, but we all have known it in some measure. It can be so pathetically shallow as devotion to an object or possession, but its highest expression is found in devotion to the most noble of lasting and eternal values and in pursuit of knowing the awesome Creator of the universe- - - God himself. Hopefully, these piano pieces will inspire a greater measure of devotion from each of us.
