Pic(fl).1.2.2.1.cbsn-2.2.0.0-str(12-14.10-12.8-10.6-8.4-6) orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q45427 For orchestra. Composed by Ryan Wigglesworth. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 9 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q45427. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q45427). Written in 2010 for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Wigglesworth's nine-minute work explores the idea of perpetuum mobile (continuous movement) in seven connected, miniature inventions. A regular pulse forms the work’s core, with elaborations of the central musical idea shifting constantly around it in jagged rhythms and sumptuous orchestration. The composer writes, The seven sections can very briefly be described thus: 1) an active, miniature 'theme and variations'; 2) the juxtaposition of various fragmentary two-part inventions; 3) a tremolo string ostinato with woodwind interjections, building towards the first climax; 4) an ostinato passing between horns and muted trumpets together with a dialogue for high woodwind and low strings; 5) a very slow canon for string harmonics and pizzicato double basses; 6) a fast, one-part invention beginning with solo piccolo, and gradually leading to the second climax; 7) chorale. This is a lively orchestral miniature which gives the impression of a kaleidoscope, with short musical ideas cutting across each other in quick succession.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533762 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 55 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3043953. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533762). Flute Concerto (2006) was commissioned by flutist Judith von Hopf and theKiev Philharmonic and premiered by them under the direction of GuidoLamell. The work is in two movements: Chanson and Fantasy Variations. The first movement, Chanson, is an extended “song†that develops through avariety of textures. The opening song material is centered around G#. In turn, this G# is revealed to be a quasi-dominant of a D centered sonority. (A briefcoda returns to G#, in preparation for the D center of the second movement.)The second movement, Fantasy Variations, is cast as two presentations ofthe theme surrounding five free variations, plus a coda. The theme serves asthe basis of the musical material for each variation as well as the structuraltemplate for each. Also, each variation contains material referring backspecifically to the previous variation. The opening theme is declamatory and massive. The first variation is fastand limber. The second variation is introspective and stratified. The thirdvariation is fleeting. The fourth variation is distant and spare. The fifthvariation is fast and driving. The final theme begins whispered and slowlyregains its declamatory nature before a brief and intense coda ends the workin a blaze. This item is the score and the solo part only. The orchestral parts are on rental from the publisher. The piano reduction is for sale as a seperate item.Instrumentation2 Flutes (2nd dbl. Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953625 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Contemporary,Latin. Octavo. 5 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #6405603. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953625). La ciudad sumergida (The Submerged City) for four-part treble chorus and nature soundtrack by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) Commissioned for Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale A setting of an excerpt of Río de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) by Alfonsina Storni (1938) Copyright © 2020 Adrienne Inglis Founder, composer, and singer with Inversion Ensemble of Austin, Texas, Adrienne Inglis also serves as principal flute with the Central Texas Philharmonic, flute instructor at Southwestern University, and flutist with flute/harp duo Chaski. She has music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Texas at Austin. An avid birder and environmentalist, she lives in the rural hill country of Central Texas. Poet Alfonsina Storni began writing during a tumultuous childhood fraught with economic hardships, many disruptive moves, and an alcoholic father. She danced with a theatrical troupe and then became a teacher and journalist. She bore a child out of wedlock and found herself working as a single mother during socially oppressive times. In Buenos Aires she joined the emerging world of women’s rights, becoming an important literary voice in the movement. When her breast cancer returned, her lifelong passion for the sea culminated in her suicide off of the coast of Argentina. Río de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) lines 1-4 by Alfonsina Storni in the public domain Ya casi el cielo te apretaba, ciego, y sumergida una ciudad tenías en tu cuerpo de grises heliotropos neblivelado en su copón de llanto. [The sky was about to embrace you, blind, and you had in your body of gray heliotropes a submerged city, with the misty sky like a chalice about to overflow with tears.] Program note: Commissioned for Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale of Naperville, Illinois, La ciudad sumergida (The Submerged City) by Adrienne Inglis for four-part treble chorus with nature soundtrack captures the mood of a river, a city, the cloudy sky, and the poet’s own profound melancholy. The sound of rain creates both the ambiance of a misty day on the river and the sensation of cathartic crying from great sadness and pain. The city’s reflection on the river’s surface gives the illusion that the city is submerged in the water. The reflection of the clouds hovering low over Río de La Plata looks like gray heliotrope flowers. The apocalyptic images of a submerged city and of tears overflowing from the chalice-sky eerily foreshadow rising sea levels due to anthropogenic global warming. The nature soundtrack of rain was recorded by the composer in the hill country of central Texas, July 2020. Performance note: This aleatoric, asynchronous composition is suitable for remote singing along with the video score and nature soundtrack. Observe the order of entrances, but know that it’s not meant to line up exactly. Finish a phrase even if another phrase has started. Diphthongs move immediately to the second vowel sound. Ya begins with the [dÊ’] sound and llanto begins with the [Ê’] sound, both typical of the Buenos Aires accent. Sing quite expressively except for the neblivelado section which is misty and veiled. The director may wish to indicate the rehearsals numbers or the singers may follow the time on the video-or both. Duration: 3:08 Link to video with soundtrack is available from the composer (http://adrienneinglis.com). Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Pablo and Diana Donatti, Ãngeles Rodríguez Cadena, and Emilio Torres for their contributions to this project and to Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale for the generous commission. Copyright © 2020 Adrienne Inglis | http://adrienneinglis.com

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1472273 Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Steven Nunes. Opera,Romantic Period. 391 pages. Nagamon Publications #1049975. Published by Nagamon Publications (A0.1472273). Richard Georg Strauss (11 June 1864 – 8 September 1949) was a German composer and conductor best known for his tone poems and operas. Considered a leading composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras, he has been described as a successor of Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Along with Gustav Mahler, he represents the late flowering of German Romanticism, in which pioneering subtleties of orchestration are combined with an advanced harmonic style.Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose or The Rose-Bearer), Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from Louvet de Couvrai's novel Les amours du chevalier de Faublas and Molière's comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac. In 1945 Strauss allowed an orchestral Rosenkavalier Suite to be published, but apparently was not involved in creating it.  It is likely that conductor Artur Rodzi?ski arranged it, as he conducted the suite's first performance, in October 1944 by the New York Philharmonic. The suite begins with the opera's orchestral prelude, depicting the Marschallin's and Octavian's night of passion (vividly portrayed by whooping horns and saxophones). Next comes the appearance of Octavian as the Rosenkavalier, depicted in tender music; the sight of him looking so young makes the Marschallin realise that he will soon leave her for a younger woman. There follows the duet between Octavian and Sophie – in which their love for each other becomes ever more obvious, but this is abruptly interrupted by the discordant music associated with Ochs's clumsy arrival. Next the violins tentatively introduce the first waltz, followed by another given out by the solo violin, before the whole orchestra settles into waltz mode. A general pause and a violin solo leads into the nostalgic music where the Marschallin sadly realises she has lost Octavian. Then comes its ecstatic climax. The work closes with a singularly robust waltz, depicting Ochs at his most pompous, and a boisterous coda newly composed for the suite. The PDF contains the Full Score and a full set of parts.

String Quartet Double Bass,String Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.892506 Composed by Bernard Alt. Arranged by Klaus Stoll. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 16 pages. Mesa Music Publishing #5208909. Published by Mesa Music Publishing (A0.892506). Bernard Alt, Kobold, for double bass quartet, edited by Klaus Stoll. Bernard Alt was born in 1903 in Silesia and was violinist in the Berlin Philharmonic from 1928 until his suicide in February 1945. His tenure in Berlin coincided almost exactly with that of Wilhelm Fürtwangler. Beginning in 1932 Alt experimented with the double bass quartet first with an arrangement of Edvard Grieg’s popular melody Kobold, followed by a suite which, when published, became one of the classics of the bass quartet repertoire. In the now 65 year long chronology of the bass quartet, this piece stands as the earliest original music written for the ensemble.
