Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818141 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 15 pages. Philip Le Bas #3049013. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818141). These eight short pieces (updated and extended, August 2018) are settings of the Church of England's Common Worship Communion Service. They are designed to be easy to sing, but interestingly different from each other. The congregation, accompanied by organ (or other keyboard instrument), sings the top line of each setting, with an optional SATB choir providing harmonic interest in various forms. The Lord, have mercy has a quiet second line forming a kind of angelic echo. In the Doxology the congregation and choir are encouraged to sing the first few bars as a two-part round before continuing into the Amen section.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.818166 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Philip Le Bas #3619921. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818166). The Nunc Dimittis is sung at every choral Evensong or Vespers, as the words of the prophet Simeon (Luke 2:29-32) on seeing the child Jesus in the Temple at Jerusalem. Here the canticle is set in English (Lord, now your servant depart in peace) for SATB choir and organ. It has a grand opening in D minor (My eyes have seen your light), followed by the main canticle text set in a rich D flat major tune. The opening theme returns towards the end, and the piece finishes with a glorious Glory be to the Father... Amen. The canticle would also be particularly appropriate at Candlemas celebrations, as well as at services expressing letting go... Its partner Magnificat by the same composer is also available in SheetMusicDirect and Sheet MusicPlus.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818188 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Philip Le Bas #6271973. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818188). A short, attractive setting of Psalm 121 for three-part (SABar) choir and piano. It is written with parish choirs in mind (with their abundance of soprano and alto voices, but relative lack of male voices!), and consists of three sections. The first part presents the richly harmonised piano accompaniment in the form of a ritornello and the principal, rising melody from the choir, looking to the mountains for an answer to life's challenges and asking from where shall come my help? The second section presents short, pithy phrases sung by each voice separately expressing different ways in which God comes to their aid. The initial melody and accompaniment, repeating the first lines of the psalm, finally return in an altered form (both harmonically and melodically), and the setting ends with a celebration of confidence in the Lord who made heaven and earth.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818191 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Philip Le Bas #6603399. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818191). A new composition setting the words of Psalm 133 for three-part (SABar) choir and piano. This cheerful, perhaps even rather idealistic psalm expressing the joy of kindred dwelling in unity has long been used to give voice to a human longing for acceptance by others, whether in a family or a community. Its verses compare this familial unity to the tradition of pouring expensive ointment over the head of visitors. Far from our modern use of oil for lubrication, this is an ancient middle-eastern oil of welcome and washing and feeling part of a community. Dwelling in unity is also compared to cloudy mist which regularly descends on the heights of Mount Hermon in Zion, providing moisture to an otherwise arid land and enabling life across the whole country. This setting is unashamedly playful, popular and romantic, with verses adding a more mysterious, metaphorical quality to the piece, and bringing to expression the deep joy of living in harmony with others..., even if finding this is not always easy. The composition is ideal for use by a parish choir, employing relatively easy part singing with a supportive piano part.Psalm 133: Ecce quam bonum et quam iucundum, habitare fratres in unum. Behold, how good it is, how pleasant, for kindred to dwell in unity. It is like precious ointment upon the beard, running down upon the beard of Aaron; like the dew of Hermon, which falls upon the mountains of Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing: life for evermore.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818179 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 11 pages. Philip Le Bas #5770087. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818179). This setting of Psalm 130 (Out of the depths have I cried to you, O Lord) was written as a response to the covid-19 lockdown crisis. It is a prayer for help in the midst of difficulty and sin, waiting for God with hope in his compassion and forgiveness. Its tempo marking of soulful, but rhythmic highlights the character of the weary, bluesey theme in B flat minor and its falling chromatic accompaniment. However, there are signs of hope throughout the setting, and the last verse mixes its principal key of G major with the original rise and fall of the minor third interval (G to B flat). Hope is, after all, sure and certain, yet it is a trust in a God who is ultimately unseen and unknownable.Psalm 130: Out of the depths have I cried to you, O Lord, Lord, hear my voice,O let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If you, O Lord, should mark our iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be feared. I wait for the Lord, I wait for the Lord.My soul waits, and in his word I hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is steadfast love and great power to redeem. The Lord will redeem you, O Israel, from all your iniquities.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818155 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Philip Le Bas #3380443. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818155). A new setting of the Roman Catholic Mass in English using the words of the Roman Missal published in 2010. This ecumenical offering from Seal Church is composed because of the composer's strong ties with, and ongoing affection for, the RC community in the UK. At least half of the music is adapted from the composer's Seal Communion Setting (also available on SMP) for the Church of England parish near Sevenoaks in the UK. It consists of six short settings, each with its own distinctive character within the whole of the Mass:1. Lord have mercy, 2. Glory to God, 3. Holy, holy, holy, 4. We proclaim your death, 5. Great Amen, 6. Lamb of GodAlthough several of these are written for SATB choir, their use is intended to be flexible, with the congregation singing the main melody or soprano line, while a choir may join in with as many of the other lines are feel able to produce!
