Jazz Combo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942959 Composed by Geoffrey Peterson. Jazz. Score and parts. 37 pages. Geoffrey Peterson #5792333. Published by Geoffrey Peterson (A0.942959). The May 17, 1963, issue of Life Magazine featured a photo essay of appalling images taken by the American photographer Charles Moore. The opening paragraph bluntly stated that The pictures on these 11 pages are frightening. They are frightening because of the brutal methods being used by white policemen in Birmingham, Alabama, against Negro demonstrators . . . And they are especially frightening because the gulf between black and white is here visibly deepened. Known as the Birmingham campaign, Moore’s photographs of this senseless brutality sent shockwaves throughout the country and the world of the deeply embedded social and institutional racism and segregation of the South. On May 2, 1963, under direct orders from Birmingham’s then Commissioner of Public Safety, Eugene Bull Connor, all African Americans participating in a nonviolent demonstration organized by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference were to be subdued with high-pressure water blasts from fire hoses and violently attacked and taunted by police dogs. After seeing Moore’s photos in Life, Andy Warhol created a series of Race Riot paintings using a terrifying image of Moore’s of a man being attacked by a German shepherd in his trademark acrylic and silkscreen process. Interestingly, the title Race Riot is a contradiction because it was in fact a peaceful protest interrupted by the violence of the police. There is a menacing quality to the music that I hope conveys both Moore’s original photo and Warhol’s appropriation.

Shulman’s visionary black and white photographs highlighted by shadow and light reached stunning heights with his ‘Case Study 22.' While Shulman’s photos help us set the scene, the main character in our story was more likely inspired by another California icon, noir detective novelist Raymond Chandler. Enjoy the vibe.” - Paul Norman Tapp.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742752 By Juan María Solare. By Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 15 pages. Juan Maria Solare #350886. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.742752). Colores de un otoño incipiente -- Colors of an incipient autumn seven somewhat abstract pieces for piano Recording of Colores de un otoño incipiente - piano in several platforms Colores de un otoño incipiente -- on Spotify In this work, an idea that has haunted me for a long time crystallizes: that the titles of the individual pieces are read like lines of a poem. Colors of an incipient autumn The day declines. Coppery with old leaves, the earth awaits. Innocence Parched by the long vigils. Frugal in the face of excess, He resigned himself to the unfinished And he left a hole of light in this nothingness. Such a poem alludes without great subtlety to decadence and aging. The title Apergaminada por las largas vigilias is taken from a poem by Pedro Lastra. Y dejó un hueco de luz en esta nada comes from a micropoem attributed to Alejandro Güerri, written in memory of Javier Adúriz. This seventh piece, transparent and delicate, pictures a being definitively transformed into light. The idea of desmesura (excess) arises from the prologue by Javier Adúriz to his book Solos de conciencia (1985): Faced with the excess of death, consciousness perceives the weakness of its willful affirmation, the one for which it feels itself unique and safe from all decrepitude. Adúriz was one of the fundamental figures in my artistic training. And apparently he still is. Musically, this cycle of works abounds in harmony of chords by fourths in a minimalist neoclassical aesthetic. The way of working texturally with the piano as an instrument - my instrument - highlights the pedal, the resonances, the third dimension of sound. These seven somewhat abstract pieces were composed at the end of 2019 in and around Bremen, in several cases with my new-born daughter Laura in my arms, trying to put her at to sleep and staying asleep. This explains the cautious nature of the music and its prudent dynamics that never reach a mezzoforte. There were several unsuccessful attempts to release this recording (initially planned for September 2020, at the beginning of autumn in the northern hemisphere). Finally, the album will be released (on Spotify and other streaming platforms) on 22 April 2022, coinciding with what would be my father's 103rd birthday. It is also autumn but in the southern hemisphere. Recorded on a Steinway B grand piano (serial number: 568208) at the Musikschule Bremen (Germany) with two Neumann KM-184 microphones. Recording and mastering technician: Alexander Derben. For the artwork, the impressive photographer and visual storyteller Leon Drago, from London, has kindly authorised the use of his photograph Pathway, The Garden House and Pergola, Hampstead Heath extension, London. The recording of Colores de un otoño incipiente (with the composer on piano) can be found here: Colores de un otoño incipiente - piano

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1211946 Composed by Irving Berlin. Arranged by Timothy Stapay/Liberace. Broadway,Easter,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Standards,Traditional. Score. 10 pages. Timothy Stapay #809498. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1211946). Easter Parade by Irving Berlin, is arranged as played by legendary piano showman, Liberace.  Here for the first time is the sheet music for this famous song, arranged as performed by Liberace.  Now you can learn to play this classic Easter Season song, just like this world-famous pianist.Easter Parade is a popular song, written by Irving Berlin and published in 1933. Berlin originally wrote the melody in 1917, under the title Smile and Show Your Dimple, as a cheer up song for a girl whose man has gone off to fight in World War I.  Berlin resurrected the tune, with modifications, and gave it the now-familiar Easter lyrics for the 1933 Broadway musical revue As Thousands Cheer, in which musical numbers were strung together on the thematic thread of newspaper headlines. In 1942, it was featured in the musical film Holiday Inn, in which it was performed by Bing Crosby. In 1948, it was performed by Judy Garland and Fred Astaire in the musical film Easter Parade, which was constructed around the song.Władziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor.  A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!Lyrics below:[Verse 1]In your Easter bonnetWith all the frills upon itYou'll be the grandest ladyIn the Easter paradeI'll be all in cloverAnd when they look you overI'll be the proudest fellowIn the Easter parade[Chorus]On the avenue, Fifth AvenueThe photographers will snap usAnd you'll find that you'reIn the rotogravureOh, I could write a sonnetAbout your Easter bonnetAnd of the girl I'm takingTo the Easter parade[Chorus]On the avenue, Fifth AvеnueThe photographers will snap usAnd you'll find that you'rеIn the rotogravureOh, I could write a sonnetAbout your Easter bonnetAnd of the girl I'm takingTo the Easter parade
