The baroque composer Christian Petzold composed the work for solo harpsichord and the piece was attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach.This piece is a traditional piece of the classical piano repertoire for beginners. It is also recurrent in film and TV soundtracks. The arrangement is quite suitable for weddings.This arrangement is an adaptation for viola and piano where the viola plays the melody and it is accompanied by the piano with the addition of notes, which harmonize the bass line. Often they also do not include the lyrics.
