Pérez Prado's recording of the song as an instrumental with his orchestra featuring trumpeter Billy Regis, whose trumpet sound would slide down and up before the melody would resume, was the most popular version in 1955, reaching number one for 10 weeks on the Billboard chart. It became a gold record. Pérez had first recorded this title for the movie Underwater! (1955), where Jane Russell can be seen dancing to the song. A beautiful, life-affirming crossover modern piano solo with a memorable melody and popular harmonies in part, but requiring a classical technique.  This piece will draw in both lovers of popular and more serious piano music. It is full of syncopated rhythms for that modern feel, but in a totally natural way. It used the full range of the piano, from the lowest to the highest notes and contains contrasting sections, which could depict the different colours of a rainbow. On four pages, mostly in F major. 3'30 duration. All of Odette's compositions have a wonderful ending, and this piece is no exception. Great for performances and rewarding to play.
