Arranged by Aaron Schwartz. 20th Century,Blues,Broadway,Chamber,Jazz,Musical/Show. 13 pages. Aaron Schwartz #1005872. Published by Aaron Schwartz (A0.1424993). Brass Quintet arrangement of George Gershwin's piano Prelude No. 1. Premiered in 1926, this prelude along with two others were the only works published in a set of 24 that Gershwin had intended on producing as part of his Melting Pot collection. This first prelude, in B-flat major, begins with a five-note blues motif and expands on upon it using syncopated rhythms based on the Brazilian baião and jazzy flat seventh chords that wowed the audiences of the 1920's. This arrangement stays true to the original piano work with some added beefier chords and fun extended techniques exclusive to brass instruments.
