Organ - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.10-365-3E Composed by David M. Cherwien. Lent, Triduum/Three Days, Tenebrae. Instrument part. 3 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #10-365-3E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.10-365-3E). “These are written-out improvisations that were a part of the Good Friday noon liturgy at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. It is a service based on stations of the cross from the Anglican tradition, in our case, with a procession to each of nine stations. At each station there is a mini-liturgy which consists of a reading, prayer, interpretive improvisation on the organ, and the singing of a stanza of a hymn. For the improvisation, I weave in images from the reading with the hymn. For example, at the sixth station, the reading includes the phrase “His yoke is easyâ€, and the hymn is “Go to Dark Gethsemane.†The improvisation alternates between the theme from the chorus “His yoke is easy†from Handel’s Messiah and a very dark and thick chordal setting of the hymn. The improvisations are full of imagery which are evocative and emotionally charged.â€-David CherwienThis unified set represents nine Stations of the Cross, but the pieces can also be used individually as preludes, hymn introductions, or worship interludes. A special reproducible liturgy Good Friday: The Way of The Cross by Susan Palo Cherwien is also included.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1089963 By Masakazu YAMAMOTO. By Claude Debussy. Arranged by Masakazu YAMAMOTO. 20th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Pop. 7 pages. A well-known and beautiful piece of work. The melody is inherited by multiple instruments and the bell-tone expresses the soft sound of the original song. Although there are many instructions for weak notes such as p and pp, expressive performances that make use of the timbre of each instrument are required, without being constricted. Commissioned by conductor Keiko Kobayashi, and the Sony Concert Band. Premiered on July 2, 2022. Playing time: about 2'30(arr. French Horn Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018883 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6056095. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018883). Programme Notes: Icarus Also Flew takes its title from the first line of the poem Failing and Flying by Jack Gilbert. He is referring to the classical myth of Daedalus and Icarus, an inventive father and son who bravely escape from their imprisonment in a tower by collecting the disposed feathers of seabirds, then fashion wings out of them and fly away. While the story is often treated as a morality tale--listen to your elders, don’t get cocky like the young man, Icarus, who, in such an understandable state of elation, ascended too close to the sun thus causing the wings to melt and his tumbling to his Mediterranean death--what Jack Gilbert reminds us is how regardless of one’s failure, the sheer transcendental experience of mortal flight remains glorious and unforgettable. Icarus’s fall was not into a legacy of disdain and oblivion, but in truth, he had come to the end of his triumph. This piece was the first of a series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies--his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!--though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection, in this case, is with his celebrated fifth symphony in C minor--the Fate symphony, as it is commonly known. I’ll let the listener find their own connections.About the Composer:Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Choral Choir,Choral,SA Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1410886 Composed by Lewis Edson/ Charles Wesley. Arranged by Leonora Hardy. Christian,Easter,Lent,Religious,Sacred. 3 pages. Leonora Hardy #993273. Published by Leonora Hardy (A0.1410886). This lovely vintage hymn speaks to Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. It is particularly appropriate for the Easter season but would be a welcome complement to many other services. It is an easily learned arrangement for the church pianist who wants to have a more flowing style of music to accompany choir or congregational singing. The original melody is retained, but I changed the timing to 6/8. It is suitable for preludes, offertories or communion. Lyrics are included.  Intermediate level. This same arrangement is listed elsewhere on this site without the separate vocal line for instrumentalist convenience. Right hand melody. Hymn.  leonorahardy@gmail.com

This arrangement of the hymn The Lord is my Salvation is yet another useful piano solo for church use.
