Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792108 Composed by Nicholas Francis. Contemporary. Score and part. 22 pages. Gordon Cherry #3451987. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792108). The Skye Boat Song, among the most popular of all Scottish folk tunes, deals with the flight of Bonnie Prince Charlie (Charles Edward Stewart) from Scotland to the Isle of Skye in 1746, after having been defeated on Culloden Moor by the English Army of King George II. The present setting, for either Tenor or Bass Trombone and Piano, is mostly lyrical and passes through a series of episodes that evoke watery images in various ways.  A stormy episode which superimposes a more martial tune (relying heavily on the familiar scotch snappy rhythm) against a variation of the original folk tune leads to brief quotations from Mendelssohn’s Hebrides overture (the Isle of Skye is part of the group of islands known as the Hebrides) before a short recapitulation of the theme.

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1393268 By The Candlelight Guitarist. By J.S. Bach / traditional. Arranged by Brad Powell. Baroque,Classical,Holiday,Instructional,Traditional. Guitar Tab. 4 pages. Geofonica Artistworks #976750. Published by Geofonica Artistworks (A0.1393268). This is a mash-up of the traditional Happy Birthday melody superimposed over J.S. Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude, arranged for solo classical guitar. This arrangement involved careful editing of essential elements of the Cello Suite Prelude (not the entire piece), tuning the guitar's 5th and 6th strings down a whole step, and adjusting harmonies of the Cello Suite to match Happy Birthday, still retaining Bach's compositional style.  It's an intermediate level classical fingerstyle, similar in difficulty to the Sor Etudes. You can see & hear the full arrangement performed in the YouTube link provided.  LYRICS are included in both English and German.ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1364537 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. 19th Century,Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Score and part. 9 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #948829. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1364537). This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skyeâ€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.   The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boatâ€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king†to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.†The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.   In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers. The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. In this arrangement for flute and piano much of the piece is written in the low register.
