Concert Band (optional solo piano) - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: AQ.AMC-WB-003SCO Composed by Francis Johnson. Arranged by Kenneth Amis. Music of Black Composers and Artists. Conductor score. 40 pages. Amis Musical Circle - Digital #AMC-WB-003SCO. Published by Amis Musical Circle - Digital (AQ.AMC-WB-003SCO). 11 x 17 inches. The 1818 publication of Francis Johnson's A Collection of New Cotillions marks the first known publication of original music by a black composer in the United States. A prolific composer, instrumentalist, teacher and conductor, Johnson led a varied and successful career in an era in U.S. history that was not inviting to black professionals. His musical interests ranged from the contemporary works of Johann Strauss Jr. to traditional, popular dances. The cotillion is a French country dance that was popular in Europe and America in the 18th century. It was originally danced by four couples in square formation and was an important influence in the development of the square dance in the United States. Francis Johnson composed two sets of six piano accompaniments for this dance. The original 1818 publication even included movement instructions for the eight dancers. The short and charming melodies that he composed are a fitting example of popular dance music of the time. This transcription may be performed as a piano solo, with the piano as a non-solistic instrument within the ensemble or without piano at all. If it is to be a piano solo, the other instruments should not play the passages marked “opt. tacet (optional tacet). If the piano will not be treated soloistically, the conductor can have some or all of the “opt. tacet passages played at their discretion. When there is no piano involved in the performance ,all instrumentalists should ignore the “opt. tacet instruction and play everything.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912996 By The Scorpions. By Klaus Meine and Rudolph Schenker. Arranged by Andrei-Lucian Drăgoi. Rock. Score. 3 pages. Andrei-Lucian Dragoi #4321771. Published by Andrei-Lucian Dragoi (A0.912996). This is an arrangement for piano solo (intermediate level) of the famous piece Send me an angel by the Scorpions.Important note. As part of my major project to propose a periodical musical staff (to replace the traditional Western musical staff), I frequently use the G-clef 8vb (an octave inferiorly to the central octave) or the 15vb (2 octaves inferiorly to the central octave) for the (piano) left hand AND the G-clef 8va (an octave superiorly to the central octave) or the 15va (2 octaves superiorly to the central octave) for the (piano) right hand, mainly for the simplicity of reading, but also for a unified G-clef-based notation for any standard (Western) orchestral instrument.SEE ALSO:My music catalog:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/328352315https://www.academia.edu/38013818My LeadMuse software and the modular staff concept)https://www.researchgate.net/publication/325877146https://www.academia.edu/36909545A collection of easy piano pieces using the periodic musical staff:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/330716995Enjoy!

Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1162362 Composed by Traditional Scottish Folk. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. Celtic,Folk,Holiday,Instructional,Irish,Traditional. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. Brian Streckfus #762722. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1162362). 1. Arranged for guitar. 2. Guitar TAB added. 3. Re-harmonized to be idiomatic for guitar and have more adventerous harmony. 4. Grace notes added.5. The grace notes, uncommon harmony, and overly drenched G major pentatonic sound lead to a more Irish/Celtic/Scottish idiom, as if this was written for bag pipes. 6. Too many versions of public domain songs will just phone in the chords in my opinion with a I IV and V7. This version is a bit jazzed up, which may not be what you looking for. If you are looking for real basic accompianiment this isn't the version for you, though I do try to use as many open strings on the guitar as possible, and the chords are often small.7. The other problem I often see with public domain songs is that the famous cowboy guitar chords most versions use lead to a lot of clunky part writing in my opinion (no thought of tendency tones, no thought of smooth voice leading, parralel 8ves and 5ths, doubled 3rds, etc). Those voicings are easier to sight-read, but are also not super creative, and as a teacher, I don't exactly want a student to see the same G Major voicing forever. That gives this false impression that that G major vocing is somehow superior. 8. Another small issue I see with public domain songs is that the vocal melody is sometimes not in the famous cowboy guitar chord. There is nothing wrong with that, and sometimes you want that, but since I like to train my singing with the help of my guitar, I like when arrangements make the vocal melody easy to add or remove on guitar. I can easily play a sophisticated solo version of this in a coffee shop, or I can just look at the chord nomenclature and see the song only from a rhythm section point of view when in a full band, when usually you purposely want to contribute less.9. Notes with an upward stem represent those notes being the original melody. This give arrangement a lot of replay value because a skillfull performer can improvise the background harmonies.

Alto Saxophone Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837033 Composed by Jay Vosk. Contemporary,Instructional. Individual part. 8 pages. Jay Vosk #5772289. Published by Jay Vosk (A0.837033). Sol-etudes are a set of 4 etudes for Alto Saxophone Solo. These pieces were purposely designed to be intense and challenging for the soloist. It was my intention to write something that would hone the players skills as well as be a meaningful piece of music. These are   times  of isolation,  and public performance is practically nonexistent. This is also a time when a lot of practicing can get done! That said,   the saxophonist  should seek solace in the fact that, with a solo piece such as this, and a little imagination, they can be both the soloist and ,in a way, the audience. Hopefully, come the time public performance is again normalized, one may  consider sol-etudes   for  public recitals and for studio study.

Piano,Viola - Digital Download SKU: A0.984980 Composed by George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Sir Noel Coward. Arranged by Hyrum Kohler. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 11 pages. Hyrum Kohler #6078337. Published by Hyrum Kohler (A0.984980). This work was entered into Brigham Young University's Second Annual Public Domain Film and Music Festival (February 5th, 2020). Its performance was awarded the first prize in musical performance and second prize in musical adaptation. The festival has a mission of educating and celebrating works that enter the public domain each year. The specific works that are used in this piece are: 1. Specially for You, by Noel Coward 2. What'll I Do?, by Irving Berlin 3. Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin These pieces were either fully or partially in the public domain because of their publishing in 1924. The form of this piece is meant to be like a concertino. The cadenza at the end is simultaneously challenging to the player and impressive to the listener. This piece is moderately difficult and would be appropriate for a collegiate recital program.
