German.Ganz bewusst legt Hermann Regner hier ausschließlich alte deutsche Weihnachtslieder in vierstimmigen Sätzen für Blockflöten (SATB) oder Streicher, auch in Kombination miteinander, vor. Der Melodiestimme ist jeweils der Text der 1. Strophe unterlegt, so dass Sänger, solistisch oder chorisch, ebenfalls mitwirken können. Vor- und Zwischenspiele zu den Strophen geben jedem Stück eine befriedigende, in sich geschlossene Form. Spezielles Anliegen war dabei, den Charakter und die besondere Art der jeweiligen Grundmelodie zu wahren. Die Sätze sind zunächst für Schulen, Musikschulen und das Musizieren in der Familie gedacht. Für Aufführungen in größerem öffentlichem Rahmen ist jedoch auch die Zusammenstellung mehrere Sätze zu einer Suite oder einer Kantate sehr empfehlenswert.
