String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1181393 Composed by Viktor Kosenko. Arranged by Robert Debbaut. 20th Century,Children,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 4 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #781235. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1181393). Ukrainian and Soviet composer, Viktor Kosenko (1896-1938), was a highly regarded concert pianist, concertmaster and educator. Kosenko began his formal training at the St. Petersburg Conservatory as a composition student of Mikhail Sokolovsky. While in school he served as concertmaster of the Marinsky Theatre. Aleksandr Glazunov, the Director the Conservatory, was greatly impressed with Kosenko and spoke highly of his work.  Regarded by his contemporaries as a master of lyricism, his first compositions were markedly influenced by the works of composers such as Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Tchaikovsky and his fellow Ukrainian Mykola Lysenko.  During his short career he composed over 100 works for piano in a total of about 250 musical works. Other works include his symphonic Moldavian poem, choral and folk music arrangements, violin and piano concertos, trios and string quartets. During the 1930s Kosenko became dedicated to writing music for children. His first compositions for children were Four Children’s Pieces for piano (1930; this arranger has scored these four works for violin and piano, flute and piano, and cello and piano, as well as string orchestra). This work is one of five I have scored for as a Second Suite for String Orchestra from the twenty-four piano works for children he composed in 1936 (The First Suite is available from Carl Fischer).  If you purchase contact me about a set of parts and a wav recording at debbaut@gmail.com, subject line Kosenko.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1487260 Composed by Cesar Antonovich Cui. Arranged by Jeffrey Biegel. Classical. Score. 48 pages. Artaria Editions #1064234. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1487260). The Preludes by Cesar Cui are a fascinating set of pieces, with a distinctive character for each tonality. The pianistic challenges are equal to any other set composed before, during and after its time, and the musical attributes bring out the tender, passionate and soulful emotions of the human spirit. Beginning and ending in C Major, the structure of the set goes from minor to Major for each tonality, for example, after C major, e minor, then G Major, followed by b minor then D Major, etc. After reaching the most accidentals ('sharp's), the composer uses their enharmonic key signatures with most 'flat' minor and Major key signatures until he is back to one 'flat' and, then 'a minor' and finally, 'C Major' to conclude the set. The Preludes were brought to my attention in the 1980s from Charles Ervin, who frequented international piano competitions, and asked if I had ever encountered the opus.. From microfilm, I printed the Jurgenson edition, edited them, and recorded the first integral set of the 25 Preludes for the Marco Polo label, which was further re-printed for Naxos (8.555557). A military engineer, Cesar Cui was also a General, and composed under the tutelage of Mily Balakirev. Having French and Lithuanian parentage, he was not Russian, yet, because of his relationship with Balakirev, became known as one of the Russian Five (Balakirev, Borodin, Cui, Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov). His music is often attributed to Robert Schumann, and more French in style than Russian. It is my hope that this set of compositions will become as well known as those by Chopin, Rachmaninov, Scriabin and the like, and performed more frequently by pianists of today and the future.Jeffrey Biegel.

Piano,Viola - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1218030 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Diego Marani. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,Instructional,Romantic Period. Score and part. 10 pages. Diego Marani #814553. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1218030). The Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, is a concerto for piano and orchestra composed by Sergei Rachmaninov between June 1900 and April 1901. No other concerto by Rachmaninoff was as popular with audiences and pianists alike as his Second Concerto ant it is one of the most often performed concertos in the repertoire. Numerous films borrow themes from the composition and it has also inspired numerous songs, like two ones recorded by Frank Sinatra and Eric Carmen's 1975 ballad All by Myself (sung also by Celine Dion). This arrangement for viola with piano of the marvelous and very famous second movement is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1374936 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Nicholas Palmer. 20th Century,Classical,Religious,Sacred. Score. 2 pages. Nicholas D Palmer #959507. Published by Nicholas D Palmer (A0.1374936). Rachmaninov's beautiful All-night Vigil (aka Songs of the Church) is rarely performed because of its level of difficulty, language, and length. The music is transcendent and perfectly suited for celebrations of the Presentation of the Lord (February 2), evening prayer, and funerals. This selection, No. 5 of 15 in the work, is taken from the 1920 English translation by Winfred Douglas and is well-suited as a solo piece. The choral parts were easily translated into an accompaniment on organ, although piano can be used. The movement is transposed down a fifth and is suited for an alto or bass. This arrangement is also available in Bb minor (original key) and G minor for higher voices. This piece would also work as a unison choir piece.
