Small Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.882388 Composed by David Chesky. Contemporary,Opera. Score and parts. 1497 pages. Pamaluc Music #18803. Published by Pamaluc Music (A0.882388). This outrageous Fellini-esque satire superimposes the world of contemporary music onto the modern art scene, scorchingly skewering them both. To avoid being slaughtered by a lunatic farmer, Shirley the cow (a former hooker from Amsterdam), and her transvestite husband, Harvey, escape to New York's East Village, where they soon become all the rage of the highbrow art scene. Back on the farm, the Pig gets wind of their fame and follows to seek his artistic fortunes as well. Will the elitist critics accept the Pig's trendy conceptual art? Will the psychotic homesteader arrive in time to reclaim his prized hog? Will swine become the new black? Duration 120:00 min fl. / cl./ harp / 1 perc. / strings Solists: 3 Tenors, 1 Baritone, 1 Soprano Choir SATB Chesky could turn out to be a one-man Brecht–Weill for the twenty-first century. Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.982529 Composed by Isaac Albeniz. Arranged by Daniel Clark. Romantic Period. Individual part. 13 pages. Daniel Clark #6441461. Published by Daniel Clark (A0.982529). The work draws on original and early piano editions as well as the first guitar transcription made by Severino GarciÌa Fortea who introduced key innovations familiar to most classical guitarists. Guitarists are encouraged to use this arrangement in consultation with the transcriptions by GarciÌa Fortea, AndreÌs Segovia, and Stanley Yates. Asturias is known for its abrupt chord interruptions which gives it its distinctive character. In the original, less well known, transcription for guitar by GarciÌa Fortea, these were plucked with the thumb and three fingers simultaneously. Segovia expanded the chord to a full six strings which is strummed. This six-string variation is now adopted as standard in nearly all classical guitar versions and the work of GarciÌa Fortea has all but been forgotten. Stanley Yates was aware of GarciÌa’s version, though seems to have been misdirected by Segovia and did not appear to get hold of GarciÌa’s work before making his own transcription. A key difference between the piano versions and guitar versions is the fact that the pedal note is missing immediately following the chords played on the first notes of the bar. This seems to be a pragmatic decision made due to the technical challenge of articulating a chord on the guitar and then immediately following up with a pedal note. It may have been also a decision to more strongly emphasise the chord. However, the composer clearly indicated that the chord should be as short as all of the other notes and hence it is reasonable to strike the chord and immediately lose it and start the pedal note.

Piano - Digital Download SKU: RX.9783737803298 Sheet music for piano. Composed by Mulo Francel, Quandro Nuevo. Text language: English. World music. 4 pages. Published by Roba Music Verlag (RX.9783737803298). This song is a travelling song written under the impression of several tours through South and East Europe, the Balkans and around the Black Sea. Dedicated to Jason, the hero of the Greek mythology, it has to be played in a hymnic manner. Jason went on a most adventurous journey to the very outermost coast of the Black Sea with this motley entourage - the Argonauts - in order to seize the Golden Fleece, a gigantic golden ram skin. Just about where the Georgian city of Batumi is today. If you would like to know more about it, you may want to read the chapter “Die Reise nach Batumi†(The Journey to Batumi) in our roadbook “Quadro Nuevo: Grand Voyage. To every person who is interested in these old myths, I recommend the books of the author and journalist Michael Kohlmeier, for example his amusing interpretations of the Sagen des Klassischen Altertums (Sagas of the classical antiquity). Just East of Batumi the Caucasus begins, with its colourful mixture of ancient peoples and cultures. I have always been fascinated with musicians who originate from this region. For example the composer Aram Katschaturian or the pianist David Gazarov, with whom I often play concerts. An Eastern groove suits this song well, quite comparable to a fast rumba. I suggest you play the intro (may be extended) and the theme (measures 6 to 39) first. Then you may improvise freely over the AABA-form of the theme. The last solo part is shortened because the B-part leads into a percussion solo. This percussion solo may be omited. After the last complete solo part you can repeat the theme and then play the al fine. For Improvisation: On a separate sheet I am offering some scales to the chords of the song in various transpositions, which is helpful as basic material for improvisations. Some chords (like the very first one) fit several different scales. Decide for yourself which one you prefer. Or maybe even make up your own. Even though these notes may sound right with the chords, one thing always holds true in creative music: There should be no dogmatic wrong or right. Sometimes what seems like a wrong note, could give the progression of the melody its special colour, tension and spice. Sometimes an improvisation with exclusive right notes is correct in music theory, but sounds terribly boring. Besides, every improviser is encouraged to happily help themselves to the chromatics. All of this is only a suggestion. Music becomes exciting and colourful when the basic material is interpreted in an imaginative and creative way!

Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956614 Composed by R Schumann. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Concert,Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 4 pages. C Melville-Mason #6477755. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956614). Robert Schumann (1810 – 1856) was an influential German music critic and composer who was troubled by mental health issues for much of his life.  Schumann’s enthusiasm for music was evident at an early age but he was discouraged from pursuing this as a career and encouraged towards the law instead.  Ultimately, music won out and Schumann began studying piano with Friedrich Wieck, whose daughter Clara was later to become Schumann’s wife.  After damage to one hand affected his playing ability, Schumann turned his attention to musicology and composition. Träumerei (Dreaming) has been described as one of the most famous piano works ever written.  It is one of a collection of short pieces, entitled Kinderscenen (Scenes from Childhood) written in 1838.  This arrangement for mixed woodwind duo of clarinet and bassoon would make a charming feature piece at a wedding, anniversary or recital.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799656 Composed by D. M. Gardner. Contemporary. Octavo. 14 pages. D. M. Gardner Music #2063481. Published by D. M. Gardner Music (A0.799656). Lullaby is a beautifully melodic setting that interweaves choir, violin, cello, and piano as equal voices, together expressing the tender, yet powerful love and protective nature of a mother’s embrace. As a young child being rocked to sleep resists the urge to close his eyes, he is encouraged by his mother’s gentle, sweet melody to find laughter and adventure among his dreams. As the poet, Veronica Toracca-Bragdon describes rocking her son, Singing to him before bed is my chance to connect with him, to tell him everything I love about him, to thank him for the happiness he brings us. I cherish that time alone with him, because the night he doesn’t ask me to sing to him will arrive too soon. Veronica’s beautifully composed poem expresses not only these sentiments, but genuinely and tangibly represents the words that anyone who has children could imagine singing themselves.Lullaby’s simple, timeless melody captures the beauty and tenderness of the moment, at the same time reminding us of the innocent, carefree, and playful nature of the children we love so much.

Complients à une duègnehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo7KQ89pzz4Gérard Souzay, French baritone, said of Jacques Leguerneyâ??s music: â??How does one describe this music which is, at the same time, classic and modern? It is pure, but colorfully nuanced; it speaks to the heart as well as the mind: at times calm; at times witty; wise, yet sensual. The music of Jacques Leguerney is un jardin à la française, both elegant and stylish.â? Jacques Leguerney was born in Le Havre on 19 November 1906. His uncle bought his first piano and encouraged him to study and write music. He wrote chamber works, and took a few semesters of harmony with Nadia Boulanger, who arranged for a performance of his Epitaphe guerrière and Clair de lune in a concert organized by the Société musical indépendante at the Salle Pleyel. However, he decided not to continue his studies. He felt that his gift was natural and spontaneous, and that anyone who understood music should not have to do exercises to learn to compose. In 1928, Jane Bathori took an interest in Leguerney, including two songs during her tour in Argentina, and the following year at the Salle Erard in Paris. In 1932, when his father died, Leguerney took over the family business and stopped composing until the outbreak of World War II. The period extending from the German occupation of France to the end of the 1940s constitutes one of the important periods of Leguerneyâ??s musical life. He began his extended song cycle, Poèmes de la Pléiade, and wrote many songs upon poems of Paul-Jean Toulet. He also continued to compose chamber music, including the Sonatine pour violon et piano, the â??Fantasie pour pianoâ? and the Quatuor à cordes en Ré. An important year for Leguerney was 1943. He met musical colleagues who would become his major interpreters. These included Gérard Souzay as well as his half-sister, soprano Geneviève Touraine; pianist Jacqueline Robin (Bonneau), Pierre Bernac, and Francis Poulenc. Robin (Bonneau) particularly influenced Leguerneyâ??s style. His piano accompaniments were created specifically for her virtuosic and sensitive style of pianism. Bernac observed that Leguerney wrote melodies de pianiste. In 1946, Leguerney created a ballet on the mythological story of Endymion. The premiere was at the Opéra de Paris on 27 July 1949, with choreography by Serge Lifar. The Opéra de Paris immediately commissioned a second work, which was La Vénus noire, based upon a short story by Prosper Mérimée. This ballet was never produced, due to disagreements with the choreographer. Leguerney became discouraged and this situation was to lead to the end of his interest in composing. However, the years 1950-1954 brought Leguerney widespread recognition as he created his beautiful mélodie cycles including La Nuit, La Solitude (for piano as well as an orchestration), Le Paysage, and Le Carnaval, as well as the cantata Psaume LXII de David. Gérard Souzay requested many new works for his recitals and premiered La Nuit, Le Carnaval and

Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1377044). I came across Douglas R. Hofstadter's book Gödel, Escher, Bach when I was a doctoral student at Harvard University, 1977-81. I guess I bought it because I saw the name Bach on its cover. I have to confess however that I was unable to go through it all; the Gödel theorems and others were beyond my elementary knowledge of math and science. Early this summer I accidentally found an article in The Atlantic about a conversation between Sami Al-Suwailem and Professor Hofstadter regarding a question that the former presented to the LLM (large-language-model), ChatGPT: Why Did I Write GEB? NB: GEB is an acronym of Gödel, Escher, Bach. The conversation between them about ChatGPT was hilarious; basically Hofstadter said ChatGPT is ridiculously clumsy and inept. I, on the other hand, immediately thought: wouldn't it be fun to set excerpts of the GEB text in a song cycle for tenor and piano?I wrote to Prof. Hofstadter and he was enthusiastic about my idea of a GEB song cycle and encouraged me to go ahead. After reading through the tome of 700-plus pages (and skimming through the over my head mathematical parts), I came up with eight paragraphs of texts which I set to music.1. A Fugue is ...2. Fishes and Scales ...3. Bach and Cage ...4. The Carroll Dialogue ...5. Crab Canon ...6. The Brain's Ants ...7. Is 15 wondrous, or unwondrous?8. The Origin of Life ...

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533506 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 13 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3002369. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533506). Jenny L'Ouvrière is a popular romance from 1845 with music by Étienne Arnaud and words by Emile Barateau. The song speaks of an hardworking weaver who is poor, but also courageous and good. The pastorale-like theme is also presented in a more varied form. One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in 1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director of music of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the «turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was during this period that heconverted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection known as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution. Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. OnMarch 27 1865, he performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.

Klavier (für Die Papiertragödie mit Papierbögen präpariert) 2 singers and piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q45180 Scenic miniatures. Revised version for two singers and piano. Composed by Wilfried Hiller. This edition: single sheet. Downloadable, Separate edition. Duration 60 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q45180. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q45180). German.'Our theatre is not like other theatres … we count on your participation, Ladies and Gentlemen!' These words from the prologue of the theatre singer are typical of our flea market of dreams. The audience shall be encouraged to think, dream, fantasize. (Wilfried Hiller in the programme of the world premiere) Without explicitly meaning to, the flea market and amusement racket theatre of Hiller and Ende has to be understood as alienation from the great opera in general and for children in particular. Here, imagination finds old and new stories, here is the home of the theatre, here is the place where the 'extravaganza music of Hiller' can be heard. Here is not just melancholy and remembrance, sorrow for things past, lost. Here, dawdling also has another meaning: silence, standstill, leisure, time – for dreaming. Jumble, dawdling – these are things that do not go well with the rush and urge for action of our time. But they suit the theatre, the music for children, the children's music theatre of Hiller and Ende.' (from: Gunter Reiß, Trödelmarkt der Träume […]; in Üben & Musizieren, 2/1991, p. 19ff).
