This Trio Sonata is an arrangement of the first of the seven opus 1 sonatas for violin, viola da gamba & continuo composed in 1694. When most composers at this time would compose a trio sonata with all the movements in the same key, Buxtehude composed the movements of this sonata alternately in F major and D minor. The movements are: Vivace - Lento, Allegro, Adagio, Andante, Grave and Presto. Written for players of equal ability and of intermediate standard and above, the sonata has been carefully edited, additions are shown in parentheses ( ) or dashed lines.Buxtehude was famous during his lifetime for his skill as an organist and composer. Both Handel and J.S. Bach travelled to hear him play (at different times). Bach stayed to study with him for three months. Handel departed after one night when he learned that Buxtehude (who wanted to retire) was looking for an organist to succeed  him, a condition of taking the post being the necessity to marry Buxtehude's eldest daughter who was some years older than Handel.

Thus, Quantz's music reflects an essential link in the evolution of musical styles from the Baroque to the Classical era. Quantz composed about 300 concerti and 200 other flute pieces for Frederick the Great. His works are for the transverse flute, including sonatas, concertos, trio sonatas, quartets, duets, trios, and unaccompanied caprices and fantasias for the flute. His treatise Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen (1752) is a valuable source of information on ornamentation and performance practices of the 18th century. Quantz made significant contributions to the development of the flute. He added a second key to the flute and invented the sliding end used to tune the instrument. He also experimented with different woods and configurations to improve the instrument's sound and versatility. Quantz was a renowned flute teacher who significantly influenced the development of flute playing and composition during the 18th century. In summary, Johann Joachim Quantz was a prolific composer, an influential flute teacher, and a key figure in the evolution of the flute and its music during the Baroque period.

They believed that animals, plants and even rocks had a life and a spirit. And they considered trees to be the most important elements. Trees symbolized life: the roots were in the Underworld, the branches in the Otherworld and the trunk in the Middle Earth. Trees gave the Celtics wood to build homes and weapons and to shelter them from the cold. They also shielded them from the sun with their shadow. Trees gave them fruit to eat and they lodged birds, the messengers of the Gods, in their branches. Trees protected people’s spirits and so each person was assigned a sacred tree according to their date of birth.Even today we still have spirits and objects that protect us. In the case of artists, their own art is often their protector. The title of this song refers to the ivory angel, the piano, however, this song is dedicated to all the instruments that help us express ourselves and prevent us from being lonely, silent or forgotten.
