Jesus, Lover of My Soul is a darkly beautiful setting of what has been called English hymnist, Charles Wesley's finest hymn. With optional obbligato instrument included, additional instrumental parts and accompaniment track available, this anthem is appropriate for worship throughout the year. Though unsubstantiated, the story behind this hymn is intriguing. One day as Wesley was preaching in the fields of the parish of Killyleagh, County Down, Ireland, men who disagreed with his doctrine attacked him and Wesley was forced to flee. Finding a hiding place in a hedge near a small brook, with the cries of his pursuers all around him, Wesley was said to have composed this hymn.

This classic song was composed in 1930 and has become best associated with the single by Ray Charles, recorded in 1960. Ray Charles’ version reached number 1 in the Billboard chart that same year. My solo arrangement is designed for more experienced players. This download gives you a version with just notes and a second with notes and TAB. Both versions also have chord symbols in case players wish to improvise around the sequence. Writers have speculated that the song was written about Carmichael’s sister, named Georgia, but the writer himself state it was inspired by the US state. In 1979 the song was officially designated as the State Song of Georgia. It is perhaps this ambiguity and possible double-meaning of the lyric which make it so alluring. I was introduced to Georgia by a primary school music teacher in the 1970’s. I remember it having a profound impact on me as a child. It is for this reason that I love to play this version for audiences. I usually play the piece from a lead sheet to allow freedom for improvisation, but I felt a published ‘concert’ version may be useful for other players. Georgia on My Mind has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame twice. The first induction was in 1993 for the 1960 recording by Ray Charles; the second happened in 2014 for the 1930 recording by Hoagy Carmichael And His Orchestra. In 1979, the State of Georgia designated Ray Charles' version the official state song and has since become part of the Great American Songbook tradition. This arrangement for solo trumpet and band is based on a brass band version by Alan Morrison.

You Are My Sunshine is an Old-Time Music country song from 1939 that became an Evergreen.
The authorship of the song is disputed; Paul Rice probably wrote it in 1937. Jimmie Davis acquired the rights to the song, so he is still listed as the lyricist and Charles Mitchell as the composer.
The success of the song took some time to come; Ray Charles achieved its best placement in 1962 with seventh place in the US pop charts. Other prominent performers are Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Mitch Ryder, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. Also in the TV series Star Trek Voyager and in films such as O Brother, Where Art Thou? or Annabelle 2 the song can be heard.
The song was arranged for the Guitar and notated in classical musical notation and tablature.
The sound of a Vibraphone was used in the setting, so the sound does not mix with the sound of your own instrument. The melody is backed by a metronome and quietly by an organ. We hope you enjoy making music...!
