Written in 1999, this piece won first prize in a composition competition and very much became the start of the journey of the whole album for the following 10 years! This was composed at a time in my life when I was using my pianistic skills to challenge my writing and vice versa. It was also at a time in my creative journey when I liked to cram as many different ideas into a piece of music as I possible could, something which I've been criticised for for my entire professional life (tough cookies I say!). It's definitely no coincidence that my interest in creating 'surprise' with sudden changes in music coincided with having Bohemian Rhapsody on constant repeat when was a kid!
