Published by Howard Ward (A0.1280600). ‘Reverie’ is the first movement of a Suite for Alto Saxophone and Piano.  It is aimed at Intermediate to Advanced students (both the Saxophone and the piano) and provides for young and emerging players to develop reading and interpretive skills - and it is fun! The movement is in two sections suggesting both a ‘dreamy’ reverie, and a more playful, ‘bubbly’ one! Although the work is written without key signature, there is a sense of tonality throughout.

This original solo piano composition by Jeff Bjorck appears on Bjorck's album/CD, Keepsakes in the Attic. When creating this melody, Bjorck imagined himself in the attic of an old house, with afternoon sun drifting through a small window, casting a warm glow on an old steamer trunk like the ones his great-grandparents used when immigrating from Sweden in the late 1800s. Gently lifting out many family heirlooms from the trunk evokes rich memories, providing transportation to much earlier times and places, prompting bittersweet reverie as loved ones now gone are fondly remembered. This composition can prompt a similar nostalgic reverie for those who play it and those who listen.

He dedicated it to his friend and colleague Frarn;ois Villaufret (1833-1888), one of the original bassoonists in the Societe de musique de chambre pour instruments a vent. The two men also played together in the Societe des Concerts du Conservatoire. The Reverie, op. 61 has been commercially recorded by bassoonist William D. Davis and fortepianist Beverly Dutton for the Bravura compact disc label.
