Irving Berlin ( 1888-1989) is the corner stone of the Great American Songbook. Composer and lyricist of over 1,500 songs that appeared in films, Broadway shows, musical revues and stand alone hits, he wrote such standards as Blue Skies, Puttin' On the Ritz, A Pretty Girl Is like a Melody, How Deep Is the ocean, Cheek to Cheek and the holiday favorites White Christmas, Easter Parade and God Bless America. Always (1925) was a wedding gift presented to Berlin's second wife, Ellin Mackay. (He was only married to his first wife, Dorothy Goetz, for six months before she died of typhoid Fever contracted on their honey moon.) This woodwind trio arrangement can be performed with 2 C Instruments (2 flutes or 2 Oboes or Flute and Oboe) and Bb Clarinet or Bassoon or Bb Bass Clarinet.
