Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939829). This Buddhist cantata in 7 movements (duration: 21:30) is a setting of passages from the Mahayana sutra, the Lotus Sutra, delivered by Shakyamuni Buddha some 2500 years ago. This highly energetic yet contemplative music expresses the vastness of the Buddha's wisdom and compassion. The final section is music in adoration of Amida Buddha (Amitabha, Amitayus) expressing the composer's faith in this great Buddha. The Score, which is completely revised from its original 1997 version, includes the complete Text and Instrumental Parts. The audio file is of the work's premiere performance by the Somerville Community Chorus, David Giessow conducting (Dec. 1997).
