This arrangement is written for a soprano cornet soloist, and is a rousing crowd-pleaser, designed to get the audience clapping along. It was written for, and first performed by, Charlie Welch of Horbury Victoria Band. Whether it is a Christmas piece is up to the concert planner to decide - but it definitely works in a festive programme! The solo part is a guide, which the soloist is welcome to diverge from if desired! In particular, the section between H and K has a free “jazz solo� feel and can be simplified or embellished to suit the player. A soprano duet version is included for use as an unconventional novelty feature.
