O magnum mysterium, originally written for Raffles Chorale and was premiered by just over 20 singers on 19th December 2014. This is the revised edition for sale in SheetMusicPlus. O magnum mysterium begins with an almost chant-like, dark atmosphere with the basses singing below the drones of the choir. The sopranos slowly emerge and the choir bursts into lush harmonies and long undulating melody lines. O magnum mysterium ends with the sopranos proclaiming Alleluia and the rest of the choir echoing. Finally, the basses return with the melody heard right from the beginning, allowing the piece to culminate peacefully and calmly. The duration of O magnum mysterium is approximately 3'40'' long. It is recommended that a sizeable choir of approximately 40 or more singers is needed to perform this work, however, it is adequate to perform this with any other choir size.
