I'm Sorry is a 1960 hit song by 15-year-old American singer Brenda Lee. It peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in July 1960. AllMusic guide wrote that it is the pop star's definitive song, and one of the finest teen pop songs of its era. It was written by Dub Allbritten and Ronnie Self. On the UK Singles Chart, the song peaked at No.12. This contemporary version features a root-based chord-blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. Program Notes:

This piece is named for Yemanya (pronounced Yeh-MAHN-jah or Yeh-MAHN-jee), the Brazilian/African nurturing mother goddess of the ocean. She's known as a protector, supplier, and one who grants wishes. Every December 31st, Brazilians celebrate Yemanya by casting white flowers and miniature boats into the sea. If Yemanya grants your wish, her waves will swallow the boat and if she denies the wish the boat will wash up on shore. Yemanya teaches us to dive in at the very moment of golden opportunity, to enjoy the rhythms of life, and to allow all doubts to be washed away. 

The fluid, oceanic themes of the instruments represent the flow of the water and magic of Yemanya. The piece starts off with a soft wind chime accompanied by gong/tam-tam. Then the vibraphone enters mysteriously as the main theme that drives the whole piece as it subtly changes. The double bass creates a rhythmic pulse beneath the other sections. The gentle melodies in the flute dance around jazzy articulations in the trumpets and saxophones. There's an interplay of Afro-Cuban beats in the marimba and a bossa nova rhythm between the temple blocks and xylophone.

Throughout the piece I have tried to capture the water's motion and the ever-changing face of the sea. As the vibraphone returns to the original melody, we are reminded of Yemanya's eternal beauty and peaceful nature.

A traditional brass quintet with opt. trumpet for horn and extra baritone for use as a sextet. A piece in Alle Breve, is simply stated in block chords with an active bass line. The first strain, is repeated, and follows traditional march scoring. The second section is a bit slower and again in block chord structure, but this time with a first trumpet obbligato. With a regaining of tempo and style the piece becomes stronger until a grandiose ending.

It All Depends on You is a 1926 popular song with music by Ray Henderson and lyrics by Buddy G. DeSylva and Lew Brown. The song, written for the musical Big Boy, was published in 1926. It was featured in the hit 1928 Warner Bros. film The Singing Fool, starring Al Jolson, Betty Bronson and Josephine Dunn, and directed by Lloyd Bacon. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements and was developed from the original 1926 sheet music. Oh! Look at Me Now is a 1941 song composed by Joe Bushkin, with lyrics by John DeVries. It is strongly associated with Frank Sinatra, who first recorded it with Tommy Dorsey and his orchestra, in an arrangement by Sy Oliver. Sinatra re-recorded the song for his 1957 A Swingin' Affair!, this time arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some pretty cool left-hand fills for your listening (playing?) pleasure - we hope you like what we've done to make this arrangement unique!

The song's lyrics describe the emotional state of a man desperately trying to win back the love of his life after the couple's separation caused by a wrong done by the man against the woman he's in love with. In the United States, it reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 (blocked from the top spot by both Upside Down by Diana Ross and Another One Bites the Dust by Queen) and number 5 on the Adult Contemporary chart. In the UK, the song reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart and is their only top 40 hit in that country. It placed 92nd in VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Love Songs in 2003.[2].
