He had been newly appointed first conductor of the recently founded ''Musikverein'' and stood at the center of the development of that kind of chamber-music euphoria that defined Viennese music culture of the period. As a pianistic bravura piece the composition invites to join in for a feast of chamber music, optionally with violin or cello as partner. The vocal-like coloratura passages of the theme bring in an atmosphere of ''Italianita'', inspired by a famous ''Arietta da camera'', the Bolero of Gaetano Piantanida, that was often performed in music salons of Vienna.

The thematic material from the introduction returns in the presentation of the final A section and as a codetta. The piece uses harmonies, swing rhythms, and syncopations that reflect the jazz style. However, it also utilizes more classical techniques such as imitation between voices. Chromatic lines and triplet rhythms are prevalent throughout the piece occurring both individually and in conjunction with one another. The lower 2 strings being tuned to C and A enables many of Mozart's bass notes to remain at the original pitch.There is an mp3 audio file from the software program Sibelius which I used for writing it, but this sounds very mechanical and is only there to give an idea of the finished product.This is not an easy tune to play on 8 string, but should be very enjoyable.
